Hi,
I have a web service, which I am calling from windows application. Web service simply returns "Hello World".
When first time, I am calling the web method, it is taking very long time, but second time onwards, it is working fine until I am not closing the win application.
Any solution to make this first call faster?

First time when button clicked, it is taking too much time. But second time onwards, it is behaving normal.

Hi,
I guess the problem is the webserver. A webservice will be started (initialized) by the IIS when the first request hits the server. After this first call the service is loaded, residing in the memory of the IIS. After 20 minutes (default setting) without receiving a request the IIS stops the webservice. That could be an explanation of your problems with the first call.
For keeping the webservice "alive" you could write a small program for the webserver, calling a random page of the webservice (request on the asmx-file for example).

Hello !
i'm new to web design , and now i have a problem with my web site :
i have designed the site on 1024 x 768 .And the all pages look very good on that resolution.But when i open the page on higher resolution , the page and all the objects , text , images .. etc look smaller .Exploring the internet i see pages that reman unchanged , on all resolution.
Can someone tell me how can i do this with my site.
I have designed the site on dreamweaver Cs3 , all the page have a main table and other tables inside this.

You can use percentages and "ems" to define widths of all elements.
You can define a standard size in your css for your "body" element - and then define all other sizes relative to that using "ems".

Always use Fixed width to all components of your html.
Use fixed Width to the page always so that if resolution changes the pages look the same.

I would like to ask that i created a discussion forum on PHP and want to change its background color to blue and font color to grey.
I tried the following attempts which i searched:
1) $BGColour = "#CCCCCC";
2) <style>
body { background-color: #ccffcc; }

First off theres a dedicated php forum on this site - which might get you more replies in future.
Now to answer your question.
If you're doing all those at once then the problem you are having appears to be that you are setting the background colour twice. The following code should work:

If the bg colour is being set more than once some settings may override others. Also ife a div is the entire size of the page and that has a bg colour then the page will appear that color. I suggest doing a find on all the files in your forum for the phrase "background-color".
If you editing a css file and want to put php in it then you'll need to add a .htaccess file in the same directory as your css file that says to parse all css files as php:
# Allows css files to be parsed like php - you may need an alternative entry here
AddType application/x-httpd-php .css
Then you'll need to add:
<?php <?php
header("Content-Type: text/css");
?>
to the top of your css file.
I think that just about covers everything.

Hi !
I'm facing the following problem . I developed a web page (aspx - .net 3.5)
with some controls inside an ajax updatepanel.
The application works in debug mode with vs2008 development server .
when I deploy on production server, using the page controls I get the error "sys.webforms.pagerequestmanagerservererrorexception".
When I debug the code I understand the origin of the problem : Il seems that IIS ( IIS 5.1 ) clears all session variables! So the controls inside the updatepanel can't get session variables values ( this throws sys.webforms.pagerequestmanagerservererrorexception )
What's the matter with IIS ?
( Note : in web.config and Virtual Folder settings : <sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="false" timeout="200" /> .
How can I manage this situation ? Can you help me ?

the session timeout was 20 seconds.
I set it to 60 seconds : I get the same error !

Are you sure you set 60 seconds.. Generally the default IIS session timeout is 20 minutes.
60 seconds is very small time.

Just double - checked with PocketGear and apparently the site isn't violating their policies, even if it's in violation of the DMCA.

How do I get a web site (one damn page) to be recognised in at very least a Google search for the domain name, never mind the content. Google disputed my first 'global' blog site, The Hash Table, which took about two weeks to resolve, but works very well now, was handled by WordPress and Plug-Ins, as a complex site.
The one I'm dealing with now, however, has no sitemap, as it only has one page. Could this be an issue? Do the Evil Google automatically dispute all SA domains? Do photos of urban cottages resemble child porn? Do I have to spend all night creating other sites (through C#, hehe) that link to this one? A perverse perversion of how TwitterBots work?
