Dear Friends,
I hope you all will be doing well. I am working on a project of "fabric inspection machine". I am using microcontroller atmel 89c52 and I want to get the data from the pin of microntroller in visual basic 6.0 but I don't know how to interface the hardware in visual basic 6.0. Actually I intend to design a counter(forward and reverse direction both)to count the meters of fabric.Is there any of you who can guide me in this regard????

I think everyone would have given you an answer to your question 1 minute after you have posted this here. The Problem with the technology that you are using is that its old and not supported by microsoft anymore. if think in .net what you request could be achieved at ease. let me ask a question to you Asad. Why are you still using VB6 in 2009?

A splash screen, like any other form in VB.
Open the form designer and add labels etc. as required.

Hi, I posted earlier about a problem im having with VB code that ive taken over. Ive resorted to messing with the code. Basically theres an asp page with vb code which creates a new object. That object is a dll that i have registered with regsvr32.exe. That all works fine. But Im having a problem that when I make a change in the project and compile the dll, i cannot overwrite the old one because it is in use. I have tried unregistering it with regsvr32.exe /u but it doesnt seem to take effect until i restart.
Now i obviously cant restart everytime i want to try a change.
So how do I do this?

p.s. visual basic 6 on windows server 2000 (i was on 2003 from my last question but ive downgraded for that mdac problem)

That situation was commoningly known as "dll hell". IIS is the process that is locking the dll and you will need to reset it (stop and start) it to release the dll (or reboot). if you have multiple websites hosted by the same server, it is possible to stop just the process that is controling the website that would be locking the dll. no way around it...

Ok so what ive tried is:
1)save my new dll
2)register it
3)start iis and test the site
4)stop iis
5)unregister it
6)overwrite dll with a new one
And at the point(6) it is still giving "..may be in use.." error.
Something im missing?

Hello,
In Catia (a 3D cad application) VBA i start a Catia command - a dialog box - for which i know the class and the handle. This dialog is modal.
From the same vba macro i start a user form right after the first dialog is opened.
My problem now is that my macro get's stuck.
Is there any way to convert that dialog to modeless so that i can continue my macro?
Or how can i start and interact with the dialog and my user form?

No. That's entirely up to Catia, not your code.

These are questions better asked on forums dedicated to Catia. It's very unlikely anyone who answers questions here on a regular basis is going to have any experience with Catia and it's object model.

Hi, Ive been given a VB and ASP site to get working and Ive tried everything I can think of.
Firstly, the files I have, have worked before so its not a coding problem.
The error im getting is this:
"Requested operation requires an OLE DB Session object, which is not supported by the current provider."
It reads a connection string from the registry and then tries to connect. Now ive tried lots of different connection strings and they all give this same error. Every solution to this error that I find online is related to the code being wrong, but as stated, its not. Its the setup.
Im running SQL 2005 on Windows Server 2003. The code is all VB6 and classic ASP.
Someone suggested that I try MDAC 2.7, so I installed it, but same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a program in which I have to send mail to a list of users. with a text report. Mail sending is working fine with MAPI Messages Control. But how to set the FONT of the message ? Because the Report is not align is getting distrubed.
Or Other wise tell me how to change the MAPI message type to HTML Message?

If youre sending a straight-text message, you don't send a font description. The font is chosen by the email program on the receivers-side, not yours.
The only way you can pick the font is if you send the report in an HTML formatted email body. Google "html email body vb.net" for examples.

MySQL[^] may be the database for you.
You can connect to the db server using ODBC or a specific .NET connector. You will find all info and downloads on the website.
