i have a content page with some masterpage. content page is having a dropdownlist that is bound with datasource on (!page.ispostBack). when page get posted back dropdownlist data losts. if i bound it again on page load then indexchanged event is always fired for fist item. any help will be appreciated

First find the asp:Content for dropdownlist and then check that EnableViewState property of the asp:Content is true.
Also check that EnableViewState property of ContentPlaceHolder in master page. if its false then set true.

Why do you more specific on database ? Only the connection string will be changing if you change the database and remaining all are same. Try to learn the basics then you would design whatever the database. Here you start[^]

First of all, Three tire architecture is not only related with ASP.Net , it is related with any of your software development, where you want to create three separate layer for UI or Presentation , business Layer (BLL ) and the Data Base Layer .
I will suggest you to go through google, you will find lots of sample on this,.
