Their not on automatic updates. They are selective afaik.

They should be part of the OS.

I agree that they should make .NET x.x part of the OS.

Parellel programming becomes really interesting with the next generation of machines and applications (Parallel Programming for Managed Developers with the Next Version of Microsoft Visual Studio[^]), when machines have 8+ cores. I guess by then people will have at least Win7 (or win 8) installed, with the latest version of .NET.
