Ramp Up[^] is a free online learning program for developers. We’ve just launched three ASP.NET tracks. These tracks, along with the other currently offered ones (eg, Windows Mobile 6, SharePoint for Developers, Visual Studio 2008), teaches the important skills in a guided path, making the learning process easier and more efficient. The easy-to-access content (provided by subject-matter gurus) is specifically tailored for the Ramp Up program, and offered in a variety of forms (article, v-lab, codecast and slidecast).
These classes begin at the beginning, so you don't have to know a bunch before you get started.
Need tools? To get started using Microsoft developer tools for free or nearly free:
- Students (high school and college) can get Visual Studio to write a .NET application through Microsoft DreamSpark [^]
- Startup companies can use BizSpark[^] to get software licenses and developer tools
- Developers can also use the free Visual Studio Express[^] to get started

Actually I am very new to Linq. But I have a project where I have to use linq to entities. I have a Gridview in my aspx page and I have a table named Address with 6 columns. I have to bound this Gridview with data from table and I have to delete, update and insert new records using linq quiereies. How can I do that. I really appreciate that.

It depends on how you coded it. Do you want to refresh the grid with new data from the database or not?

hi all,
I have two applications one is Windows application and the other is ASP.net application, both applications use Crystal Report 10 to preview data using direct SQL from the same stored procedure.
I'm passing one parameter to stored procedure using report.SetParameterValue() method
I have multiple copies of same database on multiple servers, one of them is working fine, but when connecting from ASP.net application to other databases - locally or remotely - it returns all records as if I didn't set parameter.
NOTE: the Windows application is working fine in all cases !!!

I have a textbox in a userControl and it has a Property "Autopostback" set to true, and as i know , this is encapsulated from the hosting page. now i need to set this property to true so that the Gridview in the Hosting page can recognize that the textbox of the usercontrol is set to true. I have added the following Properties from my User Control

Now i need to use them in my hosting page.

It's not a very good question.
I'm assuming that you want to pick up the event that gets fired to your user control and pass that event back up to the page? I'd create an event on your user control that your page can then handle - fire this event when you catch the textbox event.

I am doing private chat application module. I am not using any remoting concepts to develop this.
I am doing this in web application and ajax with javascript. Problem is i am able to receive and send messages but i am not able to pop up the window in touser's(whom i want to chat) window.
Can anybody tell me how to popup window at destination browser with out using remoting concepts.

To pop up a window just use javascript, if you have problems with the pop up blocker, just add a button and add the javascript to the buttons event

I have a page where iam hiding a required validator inside a table for a certain textbox. getting this error 'Page_Validators' is undefined. i have added runat="server" for table and validator
Any ideas why.

Yes a JS error and yes i set the control to validate
N.B when i delete the required validator the error is gone
below the code iam using, i have used it 100's of times:

I've found the solution!
Just add a

var Page_Validators = new Array();
</script>
to the start of your page giving the error.
And there you go!.....error solved.

i have some issues in downloading. i have write a code for downloading a csv file the file is downloaded correctedly but the issue is in the name of file. i want the file to be downloaded with the exact name as i choose for it but the mozila and ie download the file with another name. in ie the fullpath along with the file name is shown along with extension but in mozila the file is else something and there is no extension. can any body help me how can i solve this issue.
