Hello,
In my article Home-Made XP Panel[^] the ZIP for the gradient panel is incorrect after it has been edited by The Code Project. Since I can't edit it myself and I have no idea where to post this question, I've just posted it here. If the location for this post is incorrect, please say so. The executable in the "Release" folder of the Gradient ZIP (v1.1) is similar to the one of the older version (v1.0) and thus it doesn't show any gradients. Please update this error

Its a very common problem nowadays that some user deletes their own post in message boards after the query is answered. So that after a certain time, if similar question is asked, no reference remains.
I think it would be nice to have a moderation on deleted posts by users, so that we could prevent the original question to be deleted after being answered.
What do you think?

There are legitimate reasons for members wanting to delete posts so it's a hard one to set a rule for.
However, I am happy to ban users who abuse the boards. They don't help anyone.

I write the html locally and paste it into the submission wizard in text mode (i.e. not WYSIWYG).
I noticed it now automatically closes p tags when it reaches a pre tag instead of nesting the <pre>...</pre> inside the paragraph.
Not a problem, but it doesn't automatically create a new p tag after the pre is closed.
I ammended the html I submitted in my article to comply with the current 'rule', so not a problem, but I thought I'd let you know.

The rules on "correcting" HTML are as numerous as the grains of beach sand I so wish I were lying on at the moment. The only advice I can give is: double check what it does.
The issue is that when I make a change to suit one person, 10 others complain they want the old way.

This has been going on for over a day now, so I thought I'd report it. On any Reply page, the page load is stalling at http://ds.Serving-sys.com/BurstingRes/Site-845/Type-o/{######}.gif and never completes. The result is that all of the top banner area content and most of the smileys are blank spots. The upper right of the page where an ad is usually displayed is blank, but there's a link behind it, judging by the change in cursor when hovering over the space. I suspect you have a dead server at one of the advertisers sites.
I've seen ad servers screw up the site before, but never this badly, nor for this long a time. Maybe we should submit a RFC for a new standard which requires a timer that allows content a specified time to load, then skips it and moves on with the rest of the page on timeout.

Only on the reply page? Can you please do a tracert to http://ds.Serving-sys.com[^] and let us know if there is an issue? Looks like it's a Microsoft ad that is having problems.

It seems to be working this morning, though the tracert got tangled at a server in Los Angeles, and resolves to a static address registered to Qwest in Denver. It could be MS - who else would use such a ridiculously long and indecipherable URL?

I'm probably going to get slammed for this as this site is mostly geared around microsoft/windows technologies but, what are the chances of having a forum/section geared around mac & iphone development. (please be gentle on the reply's)

The key word there is mostly, as that's historically where this site came from. It has grown though, with LAMP sections, so hang in there. If there are enough good articles, I'm sure that Chris will consider it; hint: write some good articles.

We typically don't add sections for a specific technology, but instead organise our sections around topics. Each article is then tagged by the specific attribute that it relates to, so for Mac and iPhone development you'd tag an article by 'MacOs' and/or 'Mobile/iPhone'

How to get the "Send me an e-mail if someone replies to this message" checkbox to default to checked. It used to be but today has defaulted to unchecked.

The theory is the four checkbox options get persisted; it works for me.
BTW: I would prefer to see them on the "My Settings" page too.

The same thing happened to me a week ago and I was 'manually' checking replies. You can imagine how it should have been like... Chris fixed it after I reported that.
And the bad thing is that now, the bug seem to have reinstated itself and it has happened to my account again along with you. I'm now manually clicking on "Send me an email if someone replies to this message" option. 
[ADD] When I clicked edit to add something, the "Send me an email if..." has been enabled.  [/ADD]

I can't believe the number of VB6 question in the last month, and they seem to be new projects AaaaaaHhhhhhh.

What if Visual Basic changed to VB.NET if you held down the Ctrl key while hovering?

Steps to reproduce
Open a message --> pin it
Click on the message title (as if to close it again) (not on the pin icon)
Unpin the message (the message closes now)
Try and open the message again
---> on the first click the message doesn't open
---> on the second click the message does open but the subject line doesn't have a background
Once this the message has been opened without background (second click) going to another message and back doesn't change anything (the background is still gone)
Happens in IE / FF / chrome and is constant
