Visual WebGUI--Win Forms to Web Forms migration RaviShankerb29-Apr-09 20:36 RaviShankerb 29-Apr-09 20:36  I am trying to migrate an WinForms application to WebForms application using WebGUI. When i try to compile the WinForms code in the WebGUI project by deriving(or replacing System.Windows.Forms) with Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms, my code is not compiling beacuse of various appributes on the WinForms Below are some of the error? How do I resolve these errors? DataReader.frmDataReader' does not contain a definition for 'HelpButton' and no extension method 'HelpButton' accepting a first argument of type 'DataReader.frmDataReader' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) For example the HelpButton does not exists for Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms. So you should add a control 'HelpButton' to your form... It's not a bug, it's a feature! Seems like you have to rename all your System.Windows.Forms-references to Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms-references. This means they have implemented all Windows-Forms-controls to Gizmox-controls. So you cannot add System.Windows.Forms controls to the project. Are you missing a special control, or why do you want to add controls from Windows.Forms? It's not a bug, it's a feature! As for the ResourceHandle, being web based technology, this is the way VWG handles resources such as images, you will need to include the images using a browser supported format (png, jpg, gif) within: Resources\Images or Resources\Icons which should be located under your project root directory. Then you can select the icons/images using the [...] button within the control's Image/Icon property (within the designer's property grid). This action will create the resource handle required to grab the picture "web-style" at runtime. I hope this helps... Every part of the application works fine but the Crystal reports. I tried many solutions by installing different runtime dll's for CR, with no luck. I always get the error: "An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64 or Itanium) required..." Also we are forced to operate IIS on this machine in 64 bit mode, so I can't change it to 32 mode. Last thing I'm thinking of is to recompile this application with VS 2008 64bit that has CR shipped with it, but I'm afraid of having backward compatibilty issue as crystal in VS is version 10.5and I'm using 11.5 (which doesn't support 64 bit !) my head will blow up Please give me any suggestion or direction for bad situation. But you can put a link on your page to your SSL provider that shows you have a valid SSL certficate - but ONLY IF your provider provides this service. I don't think microsoft will like you pulling apart their software though. I suggest you create a software printer (google "dopdf") that posts the data to your web app. Not a simple task. You are right , so far as accessing any ms word document in our application is concerned. but what my reqirement is ... My application in .Net is already running, and if some one opens MS word and gives print command, the print dialog box should not appear , but one windows form in my running .net application should popup thats it... so which process is responsible to generate print dialog box in ms word... and what i can do is bypass this dialog box and pop up my form... please do me a favour and find something i u can... thanks n awaiting...
