The OpenFileDialog class is a wrapper to call the Win32 function OpenFile (? I can't remember which the function name exactly!). Win32 displays the dialog, not the .NET class OpenFileDialog.
OpenFileDialog is also a sealed (NotInheritable) class, so you can't really modify it at all. You can't even get the window handle to the dialog and start throwing messages at it since your code stops running when you call the dialogs .ShowDialog method.
Your going to have to write your own dialog to support this. It would just be a simple Form with a TreeView for a directory browser, and a ListView for files in the currently selected directory. Oh, and of course, a couple of buttons for Open and Cancel.

Hello every one,
I am having a VB.net 2005 application.
Earlier we had designed the application with a fixed window size, now we had implemented TableLayoutPanel in it to make it full screen.
After the implementation I made Windowstate as maximized for the forms. Now I am encountering some thing strange,
On formName.show first the form1_activate is executed instead of form1_load.
(Openinf form1 from form)
Once I reverted back “Windowstate to Normal” the execution sequence comes back to normal (Lode and then execute)
Can any one plz help me out with it...

You can't change the firing order of events, so the only thing you can do is change your code to handle both cases. I have to question what code you're putting into the Activate event handler, since this event fires every time the form gets focus for any reason, not just when the form first appears. Normally, you'd use this event to update the forms controls with new data when the form regains the focus.

Thanks Dave for the input. My exact question is that after making The window state to full screen in designer, why form activate is executed before load.
I had done a way around now that i change the window state to full screen at the end of form load. But want to know why way it happening

Through VB.NET, or do you just want a report?
If the latter is the case, then simply install Microsoft Access. Link the SQL2000 tables to the Access-database, open up the report-wizard and enjoy

You'll have to decide what you're going to use for a reporting-engine, or what you want to use to display this print-preview in. There's Crystal Reports, there's some integrated components from Microsoft or you can simply spit out a HTML-document.

Not crystal report but print document in vb.Net. and also i'll need each invoice total to be printed eg.

VB6 is a POS and is no longer supported
Crystal Reports is a POS and should be shot
Vista is a POS and we are moving to Weven
I think you have absolutely no chance of getting a sensible answer with all the POS you are using.
I suggest you move to VB.net NOW, do not commit any more resources to the VB6 POS.

Crystal Reports 9, as far as I can find, is not supported on Vista. Crystal Reports XI is supported.

hi all,
i am simply copy a file from one computer to other.i use following command
File.Copy(BakFileName, "\\" & mdChecking.PublicServerName & "\" & shellCommand.Trim.Replace(":", ""), True) 'mdChecking.PublicServerName is computer name.
above code works well when i copy file from XP to XP, VISTA to XP but fail when i copy from XP to VISTA and give error "Login Failure:unknown user name or bad password"
Please suggest how can i resolve this error?

It would appear that your code is building an invalid UNC path, or a path that doesn't exist. Move the code that builds the path to its own variable so you can see what it's building, then you can troubleshoot it better.

Now, the other part of the problem is are these two machines working in a Workgroup in an Active Directory??
If Workgroup, you've got problems. Each machine matintains its own list of user accounts and does NOT trust the accounts of another machine.
If in Active Directory, then is each machine in the same Domain?? Each machine in the domain will use and trust a central list of user accounts.

How can I receive a normal phone call using line H.323? I've done everything included in the code samples, successfully (Dim objTAPI As New TAPI3Lib.TAPI, objTAPI.Initialize(), mobjTAPI.EventFilter = ..., etc.); however, the events are not fired when there is an incomming call. Please help me.

I've never used TAPI or the TAPI library, so I really can't answer your question.
But, the first thing anyone is going to ask is do you have a TAPI 3.0 compliant modem and drivers and are the drivers installed for it??
Beyond that, I've got no answers.

Using TAPI is bit tricky and hard , but there a wrappers available
over it , one of such wrapper is available at the following site

Its an open source wrapper , you can also find information regarding it on

You can use it to recive phone call or to build Instant Voice response System kind of stuff

Your english is fine, you got the correct forum and I see no problem with your code.
I never use PerformStep so I can't comment, I set the value explicitly eg: ProgressBar1.Value = 25

ohh, thanx for the reply, but it also didnt work for me , 
n wat happns is, whn a class is called n its doing operation , the runnig form shows the message "NOT RESPONDING" tht is i cant select or stop the process from the form.. please can any one help me out from this??

It says "NOT RESPONDING" because you're code is block the apps ability to process it's message pump. This is why when your setting the Text of a label or trying to increment the progress bar, it appears as though nothing is happening. Your doing all of your apps long-running work on the UI thread, blocking the app from picking up the Paint messages, sitting in it message queue, to repaint the controls.
To keep the UI responsive, you're going to have to move the long-running process code to a background thread. You may want to look into the BackgroundWorker component in the Toolbox.
