I am developing an application on Win mobile 5.0 emulator. I need SQL server 2005 for database storage and hence i am using SQL server management studio. I want to connect a smart device project in C# to SQL server 2005.
I have done the following steps-
1. In SQL server management studio, i have selected server type as SQL server mobile and have entered a path for database file and then pressed connect. I have created one table under the database
2. I have connected the emulator with the active sink .I have then transfered this database to Win mobile 5.0 emulator and have placed it under Program Files in the emulator.
3. In VS 2008 under data source configuration wizard i have created a new connection.Then add connection window appears. Now i am not sure which data source to select.
What will be the connection string in order to access the database on Win mobile 5.0 emulator?
Please help me with this. I am a novice in application development on Win mobile platform. Please help me with the detail steps to connect the SQL mobile database to C# smart device project. Also let me if i have followed the proper steps.

Here is the process:
In the emulator
File > configure > shared folder....... give a link to your any folder
like D:\Mobile Storage and keep your .sdf file in that folder
and connection string for the sdf file should be
Data Source=\storage card\database.sdf;Password=xyz;

Hi,
I am developing an application in win32 in which I need to compare two JPEG images files of resolution 240x320 got from Windows mobile after compressing from the .bmp images. I have tried reading the r,g,b values from two images and tried to compare them. But when I am reading them I am getting the same r,g,b values for all the any JPEG images though they are dissimilar.

In your if statement that is testing for inequality of the colors the && needs to be changed to ||. Beyond that I can't see why it's not working.

Thanks for the response but I have tried that even which is of no change in output. Th problem here lies in reading the images because I am getting same pixel data in the two buffers taken for the images.
So, consider this and give ur further suggestions.

in coverage area of bluetooth dongle(connect with my usb port).
(More then 1 mobile via loop in 1 go)
Is there any class or library in .net is available.

Nope, there's no bluetooth interfaces in the .Net Framework or the .Net compact Framework. You might want to check out http://32feet.net

Hi everyone.
I just downloaded EC++ 4.0 and i have been trying hard to make it run on my Windows XP.
First of all it did not open because apparently "No standard SDK was found on the desktop....".
So i downloaded the Standard SDK 5.O and installed it on my pc.
This time Ec++ did open and i was able to open a project.
However when i tried compiling the program another error message was displyed...
" The application targeting a standard SDK for Windows CE.net and built for the SH4 CPU cannot be run on the Emulator device. Inorder to run this application on any CPU other than the Emulator you will have to install an SDK that is compatible with the standard SDK for Windows CE.net, the target a shadow platform pertaining to that SDK.
Please see EVC documentation for more details."
Can anyone please help me with this....
PS: The application i have been trying to compile is a remote control application written in Ec++ for a pocket PC running Windows CE 3.0.

You may want to try using the IDE from ZHMICRO. It is based on C++, you dont need any SDK's, and the applications that you write can be run on other mobile OS's without changing any code.

Can anyone tell how to access internet from Win mobile 5.0 emulator in Visual Studio 2008? My PC has internet access. Can i get the connection on the emulator? Can i surf the net through the emulator in the same way i suft through my PC?
Please tell me how to do the same.

Hi Deepali Khalkar,
Go to Active sync File Menu -> Connection Setting ... and Checked the "Allow connections to one of the following :" and select DMA and click on OK Button
then you got in your Project (IDE) Visual Studio select Tools - > Device Emulator Manager.. --> select your opened Emulator and right click on it and select cradle. now you are able to access internet.

Another way to enable internet connection:
* Open 'Emulator Properties' window using File->Configure menu.
* go to the network tab and check the 'Enable NE2000 PCMCI Network adaptor and bind to' chekcbox.
* select your machine's NIC card from the listbox.
* if you get a notification to setup proxy setting, choose anything and it should work.

Hi,
Set the proxy setting in emulator.
than go to Tools Menu-------> Device Emulator---------> Select the appropriate Device and Right click and click on Cradle........
May be it solved your problem.

Is the parameter required to store the count value?

In SQL Query you can use count() mehtod for getting selected rows count.

Hi,
I am using CF3.5 on Windows CE5.0 and when I try to create a bitmap using:
Bitmp bmp = new Bitmap(filepath)
I get the exception error below. I also tried loading file into MemoryStreamm and then tried creating bitmap by passing a memory stream with all bytes corresponding to image but I get same error.
I tried loading bmp, jpg, png images but none work. The device I am using is an iPAQ310. Is it possible that it's missing some kind of codec or some driver that compact framework assumes it to be there? If so, what is it missing?

Hi Joel, I already tried embedding a simple bmp 5x5 pixels into my exe and still got same problem. I have been digging into it and the problem seems to be that the device I am programming into (HP iPAQ 310) does not have the necessary dll's required by framework. The framework uses gdiplus.dll. Then I believe gdiplus.dll uses gdi32.dll and this dll itself uses coredll.dll.
The only one available in this device is coredll.dll and since it's in ROM, I am not able to even place another dll in the windows location. I would have to contact HP to have them provide me a new ROM version that contains this functionality.
However, this device has some neat 3D games so the alternative would be to figure out what library those games use. Problem is that I will have to go back to C++ for that.
