Sounds like the security settings are messed up.
Check the access rights on it.
Alternatively, reformat it if it's anyway empty.

How to check the rights 
Regarding formating , i tried it, but when i right click - format , nothing happens.

Open windows explorer, rightclick on the drive and select properties, select the security tab.
If there is no security tab, open the tools menu and select "folder options", then select the view tab. Untick "Use simple file sharing".

May be connection problem.
My MP3 Player giving same above problem in my computer.it will lose d connection then connect frequently.

Have you tried booting a Linux Boot Disk (ie Knoppix) to see if that can write or copy anything to the drive. It would at the least see if the problem is Windows specific, such as security permissions. If that doesn't work it would point more to the HDD.

You could try using the Western digital software that came with the external hard drive to have it setup properly. If you haven't done so yet i would suggest running through the setup. By default windows can not read drives over a certain size and if you have not yet run the setup, your computer may be having some conflicts with the size of the drive. If you don't have the software you should be able to download this at western digitals website.

I have 3 machines in my office and are in LAN. I have formatted one machine. After that the machine which is formatted can access remaining two machines but when other machines try to access that machine it asks for Log in password, even if correct password is provided the same window asking for password appears again and again.
I have checkedd IP address and Workgroup its correct.
What might be the reason behind it?

Look at the various security settings, things like 'allow other computers to access this computer on the network' etc.

In our system also same problem is there now we are using guest username access computer.

My wife's system froze up this morning, so I did a hard reset on it. After that, all it does is gets to the XP logo screen and then reboots itself. Can I fix it without replacing any hardware?

I put her hard drive in my machine (as a secondary drive). The first time I booted up, XP prompted me to run chkdsk on it, but I wanted to see if I could see the files without doing that. No luck, so I rebooted and ran chkdsk when prompted. When I finally got rebooted, lo and behold - I could see all of her files. While I had the disk in my machine, I backed up the drive. Out of curiosity, I stuck the drive back in her machine, and fired it up. Waddayakknow!? It booted, and she's up and running again! Crisis averted!

Having more than one is good, having more than required just adds to the trouble they cause every so often.
[ADDED] well done; being able to easily move and add a disk from one machine to another is one of the big advantages of a desktop machine over a laptop... [/ADDED]

Try in Safe Mode and check the problem inside XP.

You're making the assumption that he can even get to the prompt to start in safe mode. Usually, with a problem like this, you don't get that far.
