I searched and found a findwindow function but i don't believe it is for vb.net. Is there a any such thing in vb.net?

I'm having an issue with VMWare workstation, I'm developing inside a virtual machine with VS2008.
I've tried the vmware forums but the mention of a specific app vs2008 scares away any replies and it's definitely an issue with vs2008.
Periodically and for no apparent reason about 1 *debug* build in 3 causes the whole virtual machine to temporarily freeze for 10 to 15 seconds. By freeze I mean it becomes entirely unresponsive, if I have task manager running and performance monitor it freezes, everything freezes.
It happens just as it logs in the output a call to csc.exe or sometimes sgen.exe or sometimes compiling the license files lic...something. Usually it's in csc.exe.
After 10 to 15 seconds it suddenly springs into life again as if nothing happened.
What's odd is it *never* happens in a release build.
Now what's even odder is I vaguely recall having this same problem a while back when I was not in a virtual machine, during debug and run I would periodically see nothing happening, my app wouldn't launch and though it seems like voodoo if I moved the mouse around a bit it would suddenly launch the app in debug mode. Like it was stuck or something, though in that case the whole machine was never locked up, just vs itself.
If I turn on the debugging log for the vmware workstation I get a whole bunch of identical error entries that cover the period it froze for exactly. Entries like this:

Which is unfortunately not documented anywhere.
There are no other problems at all with the virtual machine, I can put any kind of load on it, performance is excellent it's only that exact moment when doing a debug build in vs2008. I use the machine heavily for all manner of things there's no doubt it's down to vs2008 itself.
Which leads me to believe something unusual is happening during the debug build but I can't pin down what exactly might be going on at that moment that is different than a release build.
Anyone have any ideas?

I m using Windows XP Sp2.
After turn on XP in between 10 to 15 min my XP Hanging.
In that Time Can't Open the Taskmanager (Using Shortcut Key Or normal)
And when i press windows key it is opening.
mouse movement is working but clicking operation not working.
Working:
Usually I m working in VB.NET & VB and Internet in this time it is hanging.
Anti Virus is Norton it is not showing any problem.

There must be a Virus on your PC. Try not to connect to internet and then scan your PC

It more likely that you have a bad motherboard, memory, processor, or power supply...

You can use Memtest[^] to test your memory, you have to burn it to a cd.
To test your motherboard, Power pack or processor I can't help you out, I don't know of any software off the top of my head to help you out.
Boot up in safe mode, check what gets loaded in your start up, check Services also as most people don't really check those out all too often when they get performance issues. Finally, load up IE in safe mode with no add-ons' and check what is in there also.

Ya I checked before only.
There is one register Entry named as "KATARNAK" and I removed as well as related files also.
But it reduce the hanging percentage but know per day once it will hanging.... Plzzzz Get me out of this problem.

Try formating the system and install OS again. There may be some trojan on your system.

Check the fan which is fit on ur processor.
Whether it is fit properly else try 2 apply coolent cream which might have gone dry

Thinking of going to Vista 64bit ver. I've heard good and bad as far as apps running atop this version of the OS. How does this run with MS Office and other non-MS apps.

Drivers are really the big hurdle with using a 64-bit OS. I can't recall any apps failing to work at all on the XP x64 system that's my main dev machine. (Aside from shell extensions where the author doesn't provide a 64-bit DLL, but that's not the OS's fault.)

Hi,
I have an application that needs to be installed on several m/c's so i have created setup using InstallShield. The installation ran successfully and application works properly if Nortaon Anti-virus services disabled.
But If I run the same installation with all services of Norton enabled then my application crashes. But disabling such services are not feasible, since this needs to be done on several m/c's. Is there any to avaoid it. Do i need to change installshield code for this?

Depends on your code that is triggering a problem. Do you write to the registry at all? What OS?

During installation of product we are registering some if our dll, which requires registry writing.Also we are installing our product under ProgramFiles directory.

Your AV could be picking up on an application trying to write to the registry. You would have to add an exception with your code to allow this I suppose, I wouldn't know I haven't ran into this problem.

The difference is that I have same application which is subset of this and it run properly. But when I am running main application which communicates with server (implemented in Java) using SOAP 3.0 is giving problem. Are there any services run with such AV which could block communication between client and server.

There's a whole bunch of ways to get an up to load at startup. The simplest and most user friendly is to put a short cut to it in the startup folder.
Alternatively you can create a registry key for it here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
