hi..to solve the problem of unable to connect to asp.net development server problem u can read this out.
sometimes during debugging of our website code..we get a message
unable to connect to asp.net sever
here is a trick to resolve it
first download the file from following link
http://www.4shared.com/file/116555696/ff3b0dc8/WebDevWebServer.html
extract the file ..
u will get an exe named WebDev.WebServer.exe
simply right click and copy it..
now..
goto your drive containing windows...
by deault this is c drive..
so open
the following path...
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\DevServer\9.0
you will find already a file named WebDev.WebServer.exe..
so what you have to do is simply replace this file...
by right click and paste...
and click yes on the message that you want to replace the file..
yes its done ...

i'm just begining to learn asp,since two years i'm working on asp.net,
when i create an ASP page on dreaweaver how to browse it just to see it. in visual studio i just run or debug the page.
i know it's sound naive and i'm sorry for that, but it is just the first step

I haven't used dreamweaver and classic asp for quite a while, but I think you have to create your virtual directory etc under iis. The help in dreamweaver has some good guidelines for this.

I've written a web-service using C# in which there is a web method which returns a string array ,
I need to get the data using SOAP
but when i look at the SOAP output result it returns two strings
so i am bit confused ,
I've written it to return a array string and it is giving back only two strings ...
Please tell me where i am wrong . ( * i may need a learning book still please help me in this * )

how is the service working? Maybe your array only contains two strings? Did you wrote the webservice using WCF? Please be so kind to post code. This will help to understand the issue.

Hi Guys,
Please, I need your help.
In my new asp.net 2.0 project I used div tag instead of table tag, and when I run it the page displays well. But, when I click the dropdown, instead of showing a list of items it seems like I was clicking the dropdown control at design time, I could even resize it in runtime. But this is not the way it should be. Is there anything that I must configure in order the dropdown and other controls inside the div tags to function it correctly?
I just wanted to create a new project by not using table tags.

Aoa Any one help me  i want to do add a dropdownlist and its event handler through coding ,and i want to create a new dropdownlist plus a event handler as soon the eventhandler of first is called. and also a third dropdownlist as soon the value from second dropdown list is selected. But as soon i click on second dropdownlist , the second one disappears and only first one can be seen.
Anyone can tell me how to do this. plz asap

Hi,
I have a project that is similar in principle to youtube and I was wondering about a main point on how Youtube's flash video work.
All of us have seen the small youtube player that appears in the web page, and we can use it to play the video, the question is:
Is this player a static object that loads the video from the youtube site? OR is it a dynamic object that is generated by the Youtube server based on the content that it is displaying?
In other words:
When viewing youtube videos, do we open the same flash player object that knows (by supplied parameters) what video to load from the server, or do we open a flash player that has the video embedded into it?
In other words: Can we create a flash object that is designed to load content somewhere from a server based on parameters passed to it? and if so, how can we pass those parameters to the flash object?
I am asking this because I want to create a flash that is capable of loading content from a sever based on parameters supplied somehow, so the flash is static, but the content that it displays is dynamic.
Any answers?

I can access the textbox control using javascript, see below, however I do not know how to check the contents of the text box's text. The textbox is nested in the cell of a gridview.
gridViewCtlCM.rows[selectedRowIndex].cells[1].childNodes[0].value : this does not work
How can I check the value of a nested textboxes text using javascript?

Hi all,
i had one url ,like see videos.
if i click the url then one div tag which contains iframe will be opened.and i had one close button which is used to hide the div tag.
if i click the close button then div tag will be closed but not the iframe.
i need to close the iframe also.
and i click the url, second time the same iframe will be created. at runtime by using javascript.

I currently have a form that posts its information to a seperate PHP file. It works as it should, it just takes about 4 hours to recieve the email in my inbox. Not sure where the problems lies, in my script or on the server? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

hello everyone...
im currently designing my personal site by using classic asp and javascript language..
i just want u to help me with the following code:
Response.write("<!--#include file=\"data/top.txt\"-->");
this code as u know read some html tags from the file top.txt and writ it to the page
this code doesnt have errors in syntax but it doesnt show any output in the browser 
i just want to ask if Response.write function allow this kind of parameters or is there another way to achieve that??????? 
for more info: when i browse the page in IE7 and view the 'source code' from PAGE menu, i find the statement inside the page code instead of the content of txt file

No, it doesn't. The SSI has already been processed before the ASP code starts, so the code that you write to the page isn't processed any furter. It's just sent as it is to the browser, where it's treated as an html comment.
When the ASP code starts, it's too late to use SSI. If you want to add something from a file to the page you have to read the file and write the content from the file to the response stream.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

i fixed it and did what u adviced me to do...but if i want to use something other than reading file ..like using the following code:

this code is also used to add photo gallery to the page..
so is there any other way to solve that????

I don't think so, we can change resolution of screen with Javascript.
But we can change size of Internet browser with window.open method.

i think you are taking about different resolution problem. i also having this problem. but one solution i apply in my application that is firstly i create static 1024X768 resolution design and than get screen resolution through height and width. and than check where screen of client is > than 1024 or not. if greater than difference of that get and than add half of the differnce from left. so my page always in middle while screen size will be more than 1024 X 768 and less than scroll show bydefault.
try this i think its helpful for you. its concept i use till if you got any good idea than please given me. thanks

Neither. You should use CSS to layout your page.
The form element is a container for form fields, and usually it's not used for layout at all.
Using tables for layout once was the only way to do any layout at all, but that was about fifteen years ago, and the technology has moved on since then.
