Is it always necessary to assign priorities to threads in VB.net, like java wont VB automatically assign thread priorities incase we dont explicitly specify them.

The default value off ThreadPriority is Normal..so it's not necessary to set it explicit

i'm kind of confused by the notion of:
Activated Vs Constructed
Deactivated Vs Destructed
reference namespace: System.EnterpriseServices.ServicedComponent
My understanding is that a pooled component is constructed (meaning memory for the component itself is allocated and maintained). Then, when a request comes in for this particular component, the component is activated, and this is when u want to established your database connection and such. Now, after servicing this particualr request, assuming no further request is coming in, the component is deactivated, thereby releasing database connection and other valuable system resources...
is this understanding correct?

Err, nothing can be run before the BIOS starts.

I guess you could make something that plugs into the bios socket, and has the original bios chip plug into it (which would work the way console modchips do)
But this isn't going to be possible with VB (as VB creates windows programs, which won't be able to be run in such a way)
You'd need to learn assembly to be able to write your own bios replacement

my question is, if u want to create a component service, u need to register your dll with RegSvcs .exe. Before u can do this, u must make sure that your dll has strong name: signed by private key. Now, the simplest way is to use "sn" tool:
sn - k c:\SimpleKeyPair.snk
then, register server by:
regsvcs c:\MyTransactionServ.dll
However, is there any way I can use my private key from my web server certificate or personal certificate obtained from versign?

Does anyone know of any sources that have either tools or code examples of implementing the scanning of documents using VB.Net? I have already checked out Leadtools and their .Net tools. I would like to see any others that might be available, but haven't been able to find any as of yet.

It depends on which datatype the field "rsDaten(0)" has.. if its a string or date you can not compare them to 0 ->"nTotalRecs <> 0"

Ok, maybe I am dumb here but I am trying to detect if my computer is connected to the network.
I spend about 15 minutes going through the docs and I find the System.Windows.Forms.SystemInformation class with Network property. Seems all too easy...
I do the following:

...and I figure, heay great, I should get a green panel when I have my net cable plugged in and it should go read when my cable gets unplugged (I placed this code into a timer tic event hander).
NOPE. Does not seem to do anything...
Anyone have any darn ideas?

Mine seems to come up with "true" regardless of the reality as well.
Maybe it means "if there's a network card" or "if there's something plugged into the network card, regardless of where it might go"?
By the way, this function is static, you could just use:

Actually, what it means is that you have "Networking" installed. Whether it's DHCP, NetBios, etc it will still show true. If you uninstall your Networking protocols, it should return false. I forget where I saw it but there is a way to detect the Network.
