I made a tweak a week ago to fix SPAN and highlighting tags in the PRE blocks but other than that haven't touched a thing.

The best picks are cached and hence delayed. In the time between it last being updated and you viewing it, further votes may have been made.

Is there a way I can start writing a long article at CP, but make it invisible?
The reason: I don't want to be low-rated because the article is incomplete, but want to preview the article as finished.

By far the easiest (and safest) thing to do is to use one of the free HTML editors on a local html file. That way if the server hiccups at CP, you won't lose anything. Just start with the CP template, and go from there. Double-clicking the file will show you what it's going to look like in your browser.

I still do that (I have written 8 articles), and I am a proficient pure-HTML coder, but I prefer to have the look and feel of CP when writing my article.
I think a checkbox with "Still do not make public" will be simpler to implement in the Article Submission Wizard.

Having recently achieved Gold status and had the "Articles needing approval" appear I need to know how this is done. I find myself 1 voting about 80% and letting someone else approve the articles with reasonable content.

If you don't think an article meets the minimum standard, click the Report article link at the top. If an article has no obvious content; sections appear to be the boilerplate sections; the code is missing; or it's an advert, these are the usual criteria for rejecting the application.

Votes on unapproved articles are deleted once the article is approved, thus making voting on them a waste of time until they've been approved.
I generally look at the formatting and content, as well as the ability of the person to speak English (though this is the last thing I consider, and it's got to be REALLY bad for me to fail an article).
If they leave any part of the boilerplate, I generally fail it.
I think I push the approve button once every 30 or 40 articles or so.

Quite the opposite. It allows an author to get feedback and to have a chance to improve their article to a point where it's publishable. Once it's published it should be allowed to start fresh on the published version, not the interim version.

My not reporting their article is their chance to fix it. Sometimes, I'll leave a message telling them how to fix it. I never vote an article until it's been approved.

Somehow I ended up on a CP link with the following address:
http://69.10.233.10/
it seems that article links linking back to CP will also contain this IP address instead of www.codeproject.com. I noticed it when I ended up on CP and was no longer logged in (cookie issue?) which confused me a bit. For a minute I thought it was a ripoff site attempting to steal passwords or something but why would anyone do that for CP

Sometimes, I get to a CP article via google, and CP doesn't recognize me as being logged in, even if I've already got a tab opened up to CP at the time.
