its probably been asked before, but, i need to find out the icon for a folder, cd drive, etc, i believe this is in the shell32.dll file, but i am not sure how to load resources forom files.

cant you cast it? if not, the only other solution i can think of is to write the object to a MemoryStream then read it back out, but there must be a better way. Smile | :)

I get an error when I try to do something like:

byte[] myByte;
myByte = (byte[])e.PostData;

Am I doing this wrong?

your have casted correctly. the only other thing i can think of is to use the MemoryStream class.

using System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary;
...

Stream s = new MemoryStream();
BinaryFormatter bf = new BinaryFormatter();
bf.Serialize(s, myObject);
byte[] myBytes = new byte[s.Length];
s.Read(myBytes, 0, s.Length);
s.Close();

that should do it, [i think, i hope] Smile | :)
