The phrase "Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!" was something utterly non-sensical that I picked up the top of my head to go as the text to a scrolly screensaver on my University Linux account. It drew lots of amusement from people who saw it, so it ended up as my email sig as well (and eventually when I came to create a decent website for myself, I thought up the name "grapefruitopia" as it rolls off the tongue nicely, is pretty bizarre, but easy to remember.)

When Intellisense stops working, it's usually due to a syntax error earlier in the function. However, I have seen it just stop showing the popup list (the VC status bar indicates that Intellisense is otherwise operating fine), and in that case just close & restart VC.

Use DAO, ODBC (.csv, .xls)
Or export to the Excel xml file format (you'll get the reference with this key search on MSDN : "Microsoft Office Drawing File Format". Using xml allows you to create charts or pivot tables as well.
And if you need the .xls format itself, yes the simplest way to do it is through Automation, at least if you are running Windows.
Final point, you may buy a finished product (softartisan).
Or crack the binary file format.
And I swallow a small raisin.

derive your own class from CListCtrl (if you're using MFC) and add a message handler for WM_VSCROLL.
in plain win32 you will need to replace the default listctrl window proc with your own and handle WM_VSCROLL manually.

PS: What I've said is not entirely true: Solaris is not the only descendant of SVR4. Novel also grew it to Novell Unixware, and apparently SCO Unix also has its roots in this OS.

Does anyone else have the problem that every now and again VC6 loses one of your classes.
I just deleted a function and the class has disapeared from the Workspace. Its still included as part of the project and compiles fine?!?!
This has happened before and by removng and adding the files again it came back up but this isn't happening now!!!

This happens every now and then.
Normaly, I close the Workspace, exit the VC++-IDE and delete the *.ncd, *.opt and *.position files that sit in the same directory like my *.dsw.
After a restart of the IDE all is fine again.

But you lose all the folders and organisation etc....

I still have my projects organisation, since that is contained in the *.dsp files.
I never used the ClassViews context menu 'New Folder', but I always thought that it refers to actual filesystem-folders.
Perhaps you can experiment with which of the files I mentioned really have to be deleted to help the IDE to recover?

No its just some virtual folders to help you organise your classes. Thats all i lose, wasn't must trouble remaking them again though.

All you need to do is remove the .ncb file and not the .opt or .position files.

If a class disappears from the workspace pane, there is a very simple solution:
Go to FileView, open the header file, and add any character to the class-name. I usually use a white-space You might have to save the file.
The classwizard will notice you made a change to the file, and updates the class (showing it again in the workspace pane)

In this case i make "Save All" and the classes are in the class tree again.

I need to simulate the mouse click on a row

In other words, is need to highlight a specific

I have used the SetRowSel but it doesn't do what i
want. It only set the focus in the specified row but
it doesn't paint the row.
