This was exactly what I tried b4 posting. I stored the value from textbox into a String variable and then Parsed it into DateTime as it's shown in the code.
But all this time I was getting errors b'coz the name of my Textbox was same as that of the variable I used for used for storing the date.
So, I changed the variable name and its UP and RUNNING.

I have a program that creates and edits Microsoft Word documents. It was created with Microsoft Word 12.0 Object Library -- I had MS Office 2007 installed. I built it and it worked great on my computer. I took it to another computer (one that had MS Office 2003 installed) and it crashes when I tell the program to create the Word document.
This is the error I get (in the Details section):
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'
Is there a way to make sure the program can be backward and forward compatible with regard to versions of Microsoft Word?

Well until you get that file installed on that computer to eliminate that error you don't even know if you have a compatibility problem.

Clarification: "took it to another computer" means installed it onto another computer.

This program was originally written with library 11.0 -- it worked with computers that had MS Office 2003 and 2007, I updated it when I upgraded to MS Office 2007 using library 12.0, and now it does not work with MS Office 2003. How can I get it to work with 12.0? Thanks.

AFAIK you need to either explicitly link against the lowest supported version (not sure the old dlls are forward compatable), or build a switcher that links against every possible version you're using it on depending on availability.
You could also try putting the v12 dll on the system with word 2003 (v11), but IIRC that won't work.

You can't use CSS with a standard winforms application, but you can achieve an effect similar to CSS if you use WPF, because CSS is used to style web pages - and you can style WPF apps[^].

HI
I have a table (ContactDetails) with 2000 records. I have an application receiving an XML file from an external web service. Most time the data received from the web service is similar to the data in my table. Occasionally the data returned from the web service will have few differences. I want to compare the data received from the web service with the data in my local database and generate a xml file (based on the same schema) to send to another application. So how do i go about do that?

When i am choosing an easy picture(*.tiff extension,size = 474 kb,dimensions:1920*1200) everything is ok, i mean that this picture is displays at my form.
But if picture is more hard(*.tiff extension,size = 10.9 mb ,dimensions:56304*13384) i have such error: Out of Memory(indicates the next string of source code Application.Run(new Form1());)
What i have to do to solve this problem.

I have a piece of code that retrieves Oracle connection information and places it in a list box.

This works on one machine which adds lines like "DB1 : MYMACHINE : db1.domain.local : TCP : 1521"
but on another machine (with the same TNSNAMES.ora) gives "DB1 : : db1.domain.local : :"
i.e. the host name, protocol and port are not being retrieved.
Both machines have the same Oracle client (10g) and the same Oracle.DataAccess.dll (2.111.6.20)
Any ideas what could be different between the machines or what is causing the problem?

Few questions:
- is the ...\NETWORK\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA-file identical in both machines
- is the ...\NETWORK\ADMIN\SQLNET.ORA-file identical in both machines
- is TNS_ADMIN defined in environment variables identically in both machines (or not defined at all)
- is TNS_ADMIN defined in registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle\HomeName) identically in both machines (or not defined at all)
- can you successfully connect to the db. If not what is the ORA-error

Thanks for the help.
The TNSNAMES.ORA file is identical on both machines and we copied the working one to the other machine with no effect.
The SQLNET.ORA is also identical.
Both machines are missing a TNS_ADMIN environment variable and both machines are missing the registry entry for TNS_ADMIN.
Both machines can connect to DB using c# normally.
As a correction in my question, the working machine is using Oracle 11 client whilst the non-working machine is Oracle 10g client.

If I have understood correctly, Oracle 10g client reports TNS-entries differently than version 11. If the connection is established without errors, do you still want to resolve protocol and port to the list?
