I developped a small app using VisualStudio 2005, CF 2.0 C# that targets the Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional operating system.
It tries to send sms in 2 different ways:
Direct:
string NumTelefono = textBox1.Text;
string Messaggio = textBox2.Text;
if (Messaggio.Length > 255)
Messaggio = Messaggio.Substring(0, 255);
SmsMessage sendMsg = new SmsMessage();
Recipient recpt = new Recipient(NumTelefono);

sendMsg.Send();
Using Pocket Outlook:

I tried both with the emulator and a real device, the sms gets sent but it's not stored in the "SMS\Sent Items".
Is there a way to implement such functionality ?

Hi all,
I have created an application to send and recieve a particular type of message, now when the message comes in, the application grabs the message and show it on the screen, but when we switch of the phone and switch it on again, the message starts coming in before the application starts and goes directly to the PDA/Phone inbox.
My problem is to read messages from PDA/Smartphone inbox.
I am using C#.Net 2.0, Compact Framework 2.0 and Windows mobile 6 SDK
Please let me know if there is some way to grab those messages.

If you are downloading from a HTTP server, use HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse classes. I believe .NET CF supports these.

Kindly tell me how to register my application with the Pocket PC, I want applet like functioning, as when the my link is opened from any pocket PC, it should register my applications exe or dll file to the Pocket PC. So that my application's code get executed on a particular event say SMS outgoing or receiving.

Has anyone ever copied a file using C# to a PC from a Mobile Application? I've seen many discussions where a Desktop Application grabs a file from a mobile device but not where the Mobile Application just sends a file to the Desktop PC.
I have a project where the user counts inventory on a handheld device but they want to store that data on a database elsewhere...so what I need to do is when the user clicks "SyncData" on the mobile device it generates a comma-delimeted file on the Mobile Application and then sends the file to a specific location on the connected PC. This button can only be clicked when the Handheld is docked and connected.
Is this possible?

I don't know how to upload a file through ActiveSync connection directly, but one possibility is to implement a webservice on a server in your clients network and upload your data to the database via this service. You can call it from a device not only via ActiveSync connection, but using Wifi or GSM connection your device may have.
Other possibilities are using SQL Server Compact on the device with merge replication to a SQL Server databese, or maybe the new Sync framework from Microsoft.

Hi,
You can use either rapi.dll functions or can create a file on mobile device and then copy it to pc via activesync dlls again. Second one is much more easier but you can run out of memory if your file is big. If you do not have to create a csv, direct accessing to sql server(or whatever dbms u use) will be a better choice( Of course it depends on your project ).

Yes, rapi is one option. You can see many examples of how to do it through it.
Other method that I prefer is if you have wi-fi to connect to the PC or access point. After that you can use the sharing capabilities of the network (like regular network of PCs)

Can someone tell me if and how it is possible to make a merge replication where changes in SQL Server 2005 db is pushed to mobile devices?
I need to be able to setup devices as a subscribers (from the devices) and then from SQL Server 2005 db push changes to all that is subscribing.

I've developed a plugin for an application, and the plugin goes in the /program files/app_name/plugins directory. My plugin contains a form and when I execute it, I need it to put the data it creates / downloads into the directory of the application, not the directory of the plugin. How do I get the application directory of the current executable? I've tried Assembly.GetCallingAssembly and Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly, but they provide me with the path to where my plugin is.
I have the flexibility to further the design a little, but my only other option as I'm seeing it is putting giving the plugin the working path.
I'm using .NETCF 2.0

If I get it right:
plugin folder: /program files/app_name/plugins
download folder: /program files/app_name/downloads
you can use Win API -
GetModuleFileName(NULL, ...)
If the plugin is a separate process it will return: /program files/app_name/plugins/plugin_name
If not it will return: /program files/app_name/app_name.exe
I hope from here you can adjust to /downlads
P.S. In MS world you need '\', not '/'

I'm trying to connect my pocket pc 2003 emulator to my loopback adapter, which is a virtual network, however I always get an SqlException error or sometimes a "Cannot connect to server or server does not exist."
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I was able to get it working on the first PC. Now that I'm trying to do it again. It doesn't work. Here are the following configurations I've made already:
- Installed Virtual PC 2007
- Installed Microsoft Loopback Adapter
- Configured TCP/IP settings in SQL Server Configuration
+ Enabled IP1
+ Set dynamic ports and tcp ports of IP1 to blank
+ IP1 has a default IP address of 127.0.0.1 (which I think is for the loopback stuff)
+ Set IPAll TCP port to 1433 and left dynamic port to blank
x In the previous laptop that I configured, I had an IP2 which I placed another IP address.
I can't remember if I placed my PC's IP there or the IP address I used for the TCP/IP
properties of my loopback adapter which is 192.168.0.1. (I don't know why I don't have IP2 in
this current laptop) And a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 as indicated on all instructions from
MS and the net.
+ I've also tried changing the .0.1 to other numbers up to 255. I haven't tried them all though
but I tried a couple of those and it still didn't work.
x Restarted the service.
- Allowed corresponding permissions in the database like Connect,Update,Select,etc.
- Configured Emulator properties and set the NE2000 PCMCIA to Microsoft Loopback Adapter
- Turned off the firewall
- Allowed my database to login in Windows Authentication and SQL Authentication mode.
+ I only get it working, when I cradle it with ActiveSync 4.5
+ I've repeatedly installed and uninstalled the loopback adapter but still with the same result. 
+ I've also downloaded and installed Virtual PC 2007 SP1. An update for the previous VPC 2007 for Windows XP SP3s. Still, I tried and it still gets the error. Sigh...

By the way, here is my connection string in my code: "@Data Source=ralph,1433;Integrated Security=true;Initial Catalog=MMDAserver;User ID=dummy;Password=12;"
+ I've also tried using the laptop's IP address than using the computer name as aforementioned, but it still gets the error.
Does anyone know how I can deal with this?

Hi all,
I am new to BlackBerry applcation develpment.
I have downloaded the BlackBerry JDK 4.5 and installed it, also installed the JAVA jdk1.5.0_15 and desktop manager. I have also set the environment variables and selected BlackBerry Pearl 8110 JDE as default mobile.
Now the problem is whenever I open a sample workspace and make one project active and try to run it(by selecting Build from Build menu and then Go from Debug menu), it does nothing. The expected output I should get, is a window saying Hello World, however, nothing happens.
It does not even give any error messages, it only says build complete and opens the simulator and freezes.
Please let me know how to get around it.

I am in final year of engineering. We are suppose to create a project this year. I gave it a lot of thought but am short of ideas. Can anyone please help me out. Topics like Smart building, Mobile Messenger, and couple of other were rejected by my professor. The project should be big and should be completed within 7-8 months. Technology i am interested in is Java, .Net, XML and then others. Please help me.

Good Day,
I have a Class Person, this class have members like Name, Age, Address and Picture.
I then have a List<person which contains 2 instance of Class Person. I serialized the list using XMLSerializer and was able to produce an XML file.
I then hosted the XML file on my local IIS. I created a simple Mobile Application to download the XML File. The XML file was downloaded and deserialized successfully. However, it took nearly 1.5 minutes to download a 213KB XML file via HttpRequest-HttpResponse.
So, I tried creating a web service. The webservice deserializes the XML file then returns the List.

public List<person> GetPersonData()
{}
This time, it was faster since it just took 29 seconds to get my data. However, 29 seconds is still too long for a 213KB file and I expect that the XML data will reach at least 1MB.
Is it slow because it is running in the Emulator? If not, what can you suggest to speed things up?
Basically, the XML File (Data) is stored in the server and the Mobile App needs to get the data from the server and process it.

Error 1 Projects targeting .NET Compact Framework 1.0 require version 1.1 of the .NET Framework, which is not detected on this machine. SmartDeviceApplication
