Here i have a problem witt session state.
In my loging page i am saving the login id in a session variable which i am using all over the application as usual.
Here the problem is,if i am doing any operation immediately after login that session value is working.
if i stop any operation for 5 mts and continue to do like insert,update etc,it is giving error.Error is about expecting the session variable's value.
how can i give a message that session has been expired and one must login again.
The problem is arising only when i stop somtime and continue to do something from stopping point.

What you can do in the web.config file is to set the login to time out after 60 mintues and then re-direct to a certain page.
In your case you need to check if the session is empty and if it is re-direct to another page something like this:
if (Session["sess1"] != null)
{
}
else
{
response.redirect("page.aspx")
}

Ya i have already increased session time out.But of no use.
Here if i inserted one record in a page and waited 5mts and again try to insert the second record,then automatically it is showing the error where i am trying to use the session variable.
so if i check on page load for the session varible and redirect to login page,but still it is showing this error in my requirement.
try to understand the problem and give me suggestion.

So lets clarify..
Your sessions are expiring after a short period of time.
You need to increase the lenght of time your sessions are held for
try this <% Server.ScriptTimeout = 1000 %>

Ya u got my point.My session is expiring after few minutes,which will effect my appln.User may enter data after login.
If it expired i want to show msg that it has been expired.
Am i need to set this property on each and every page??
where i have to set it?I will try and test it,so that i can tell u whether it is working or not.

I have 3 dropdownlist box in my page.
based on male female radio option those particular dropdownlist should be viisble. And then after selecting that particular item from list another textbox should be made visible else it should remain false.
I am working on c#.net and doing the scripting on javascript to check the item selected and making that particualar textbox visible.
But if I select another item it shold be made false...how do we check that if that item is selected then the corresponding textbox should be made visible else it should remain flase. Please let me know. Thanks.
And how do we reload the page after selectign an item fromo the dropdownlist. the dropdownlist is a usercontrol and being placed on a placeholder.

Why are you using javascript?
use c#
Just use the onselectedchange event of the listbox and put in there textbox.visible = true

Sorry, but our codes are using javascript for the client side validation.
So keeping that in mind i need to make the txtbox invisible if that particular item in listbox item is not selected.
Secondly to reload the page once an item is selected from the dropdownlist.
Please help...thanks

you need to create an onclick function for the listbox.
Write that in javascript and then in that function you can specify the page refresh which is easy bit of code to find/write.

I am developing a website in which on a button click i am calculating distance and driving time between two places using Javascript something like this

So in my website i am showing a Table in which a div tag is their to which i am assigning TEXT website is getting struck at that point something like
Tabel1 is visible , Button is clicked , On click dist & time are cal and assigned then Table 2 is visible and Table 1 is hide
so website is getting struck at the Table1
Please tell me how to solve this problem

I have been asked to replicate the custom role manager tool in my website.
I have currently got a page where a user can register their details using the CreateUserWizard but Im not sure how to allocate roles through my website.

I want to put a control on a web page to separated a series of steps that the user performs, from the rest of the page. I wanna make it look somehow like the wizard but I think if I used the wizard control, it'll be complicated because I wanna insert Gridviews and I wanna maintain users input and also the some steps maybe skipped based on user's input.
So I was thinking if I can insert a webpage inside the current webpage that is completely separate from the main web page. I don't want a pop up menu. I want to add something like a componenet iside the main web page and perform all these steps inside this component without navigating from the main page. Is there anyway I can do this without the wizard control.
Also, If the wizard control is the only way to do that..can someone send me a link on how to handle Gridviews inside a wizard control an mainatain user's input data through the wizard's steps..I counldn't find any references on the web?

Dear all,
My task is to get the students name and rollno from the database depending upon the course and year and also to bind subject names in the top row with different columns subjects names like
Rollno Studentname English Botany Zoology Chemistry
1 s txtbox

Submit
Like the above condition i want to enter marks for students.
Can any one of u pls guide me which is the way to do the above process

Start with the first part of your question which is staright forward.
You want to display data from a database in a gridview or table?
Use a simple article on the web to leanr how to display data from a datbase, it would be easier then me explaining it to you

I am setting the grid to the newly selected page in the selectedIndexChanged event of the dropdownlist.
Now when I choose a different page from the drop downlist, the page posts back but the drop downlists SelectedIndexChange event does
not fire.
Can anybody tell me the reason and/or work around. My Intention is to use dropdownlist in the
Pager. If anybody has any other code, please send it to me.
