I have an asp.net webapplication which will send mail. The mail will be containing link to the same web application, when user click on the link it should open the same web application. But it is opening blank page. It is configured in the local intranet.
The link is something like this.. http://localhost/appname
How to solve this problem..
Please any one find me the answr as soon as possible

Is the e-mail being opened from the same machine where the application is located?
If it isnt you wont be able to open the link

People will be using outlook express or microsoft outlook to check there internal mails in the organization. From there only that link should open the corresponding web application in new internet explorer window.
I am using mail sending code and embeding the url as
http://domainname/virtualdirname
but when i click onto link in mail it opens blank page.
please provide me with the proper solution

Easy way is to keep the domain name in some configuration file. Read from that configuration file while you send email. When you upload website to server, change this value to a valid one.

try giving the system name in place of localhost, that will work irrespective of where the set up is installed...
whereas localhost will only work on your system..

Its not a web setup program. We configuered it under IIS just by coping the folder. I detailed my problem as follows. I tried by giving name also but it doesn't work.

Whatever they use for opening you're link, it'll open up..

Are you not providing a page name where this should redirect??
If not it will obviously open a blank page if youve not configured the iis for a default page..
Try giving the page name as the default in iis documents tab..
Or in the link directly provide the page name
something like this ...
http://domainname/virtualdirname/pagename.aspx

Hi friends
I am getting an eror and gives following description
If the applications App_Data directory already exists, the web server account only requires read and write access to the applications App_Data directory. This is necessary because the web server account will attempt to verify that the Sql Server Express database already exists within the applications App_Data directory. Revoking read access on the App_Data directory from the web server account will prevent the provider from correctly determining if the Sql Server Express database already exists. This will cause an error when the provider attempts to create a duplicate of an already existing database. Write access is required because the web server accounts credentials are used when creating the new database.
can you tell me what I need to do ?

Hi all,
I have created one webservice in asp.net 2.0 and using Web Service Extenstions 3.0.
To invoke any asmx page from client, client need to create a object of that asmx page and pass 1) Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.Tokens.UsernameToken object 2) Client policy. This is working fine when I am consuming WebService from local.
I deployed webservice in Server machine on perticular port number.
If i invoke the webmethod from client gettting excpetion as '401 Unauthorized'.
If i follow same steps locally working fine.
coders, any idea on this. why WS is giving 401 exception when invoking from network
quick response will be appriciated.

ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "FunctionKey", "<script language="javascript">FunctionNameHere();</script>");

How can i move a particular font to the client machine from server.Actually the problem is that i have a font installed on my server , when i try to access the web page with that special font , it does not show up wit that face . So , how can i move the server font to the client machine(while client is accessing the server)
