Is there a way to set IIS to encode all the page responses to particular charset, say utf-8. I know I can do it on each individual page's response
<%Response.CharSet="utf-8"%>
Response.Encoding ....
What I am looking is a global way of setting at the IIS level, rather than modifiy 1000+ pages

HI All,
My web application uses a report viewer control for generating reports. The report is deployed in the same machine and has a subreport to it. I am able to bind the data using datasets to the main report and was failing to bind that to subreport. I was first passing a parameter to the subreport, later removed the parameter and written a normal select statement. Even then i am seeing an error "SubReport could not be shown". I tried to debug to check if the dataset has no data or some such, but strangely found that the method passed to the event handler is not getting called after the ReportViewer1.LocalReport.Refres() has been called. I googled for a complete day but did not find any solution that will make me to proceed with my work. I checked the parameters passed properly, removed the parameter completely to make sure that does not cause any problem, checked the name of the subreport & datasource etc., but find nothing that can solve my problem.
please let me know if anyone has such kind of a problem and had a solution. This is the statement i used to bind the datasource of the subreport in c#.
ReportViewer1.LocalReport.SubreportProcessing += new SubreportProcessingEventHandler(LoadSubReport);

Thanks very much for you time.
Actually iam able to run and generate a report using the report viewer. My problem is if i have a subreport and will gets populated based on the value from the main report as parameter, then the subreport is not showing up. even after removing the parameter and make that subreport as some static report which gets and populates thru a select query with no parameter filter. but i am having same trouble.

Hey all,
Am trying to use virtual root (~) in an anchor tag but not having much success.
I have added runat="server" to the links but all that happens is the link adds itslef to the end of the parent virtual directory in my link, so it's not actually going to site root, just document root?
Any suggestions as to what I'm missing? It's not possible to use an <code><asp:hyperlink </code> due to the way page is set up.
Any help would be appreciated

How are you using it?
Url's should be in the form: "~/directory-off-vroot/".
If you want to 'overall' root, just do: "/directory-off-root/".

I have always used it to get virtual site root, though thinking about it I may have always been just 1 folder up in mystructure so may not have noticed?
I have been using it as "~/First-Level-Folder/2/3/4/
so if in "4" i would use it to get back to "First-Level-Folder" like: "~/First-Level-Folder/Default.aspx..."
but this keeps navigating to "/First-Level-Folder/2/3/~/First-Level-Folder/Default.aspx..."
Thought I was using it rigt? I'm trying to implement a urlrewriter which uses it for all urls.
Doing the overall root works, so thank you.

Check the runat="server" in the anchor tag. It doesn't seem to be a server tag after all.

It works as long as the application root is the same as the domain root. If you put the application in a folder or a virtual directory, it will not get you to the application root.

Hi, I have just created a form with a gridview in it. In the gridview, I have clicked on the enable editing checkbox. To my understanding, once the gridview is loaded, there will be a hypelink called 'Edit'. When I click on it, the particular row will kinda become a textbox thus allowing the user to update it.
My problem now is assigning an autocomplete extender to that particular textbox, as I am unsure of what the targetID is.

You'll have to create an edit template in the GridView where you'll have a TextBox control with the ID. In the edit template layout add an AutoComplete Extender and give it the TextBox's ID.

Hi coders !!!
I have a form in which i have to take input from the users.
The Application has a 4 fields like QTY , PART number and Price.
Now i have a "add more" button which adds this check box ,blank text box , drop down box and a text box in a line. And users are supposed to fill in the data.
I also have "remove" which deletes the line(check box, qty,partid,price) if the check box is checked.
If i dont deleted the data and keep on the add the lines in the form i dont have any problem. But if i add 15 lines and try to delete the 9th line using the remove button. I face a problem
The problem is after submitting the form , only the lines 1-9 are submitted and lines 11-15 dont appear on the next page. But the total calculation of the price considers all the line prices from 1-15 including the 10 line price.
How can i update the array so that all the lines which are not deleted can be passed on to the next form.
this is my problem , also this code only works in a Firefox browser.
How can i make it work in all the browsers ?

Ok,
I know this may not be the right place for this, but I thought I'd ask around anyway, Apologies if this is inaprpriate.
I'm trying to integrate URLRewriter.Net into my website. This I have so far done without any issues, creating custom transfers etc to retreive data from my dB depending on Id's in my querystrings.
However, I obviously need the site to work with the original URL's as well as my new 'pretty' ones.
I want to set up a 301 redirect from the old url's, my current attempt at a rule is below:

This looks at the old URL (most likely cached in search engine etc) and (should) redirect to my new one.
Has anyone else used this tool and done this themselves, I've tried a few combinations but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be really really appreciated.

Hi,
I have an issue regarding the fact that, although in explorer looks perfect, in mozilla 2 rows of a html table are rendered together.In mozilla the row before those 2 seems to have a few extra lines(although i don't see any extra
in the source).One of the rows rendered together has a checkbox and if i click it twice(which results in displaying and hiding a panel), then shows perfectly.I've compared the sourcesbefore and after clicking the checkbox and are identical.
Any ideas?

Browsers are not standard, not compatible, never have been, probably never will be. Everyone (except apparently you) knows this.

I guess you just needed to post something.What if i skipped the IE part and asked only the mozilla one?I was just underlining that i don't have this issue in IE(rendering one row over another and after i click a checkbox that runs js to show/hide a panel doesn't have that rendering issue like on first page load ).But whatever..
I changed the title to avoid more people getting confused

Does "compared the sources" mean "View Source"? If so that will always display the original source loaded, it will not reflect dynamic script changes.
Have you tried debugging? Another thing I might try would be to attempt to reproduce the problem in a very small research page. By very small I mean the smallest about of HTML/Javascript required to reproduce the problem. Sometimes you discover the problem redeveloping it. If not it is far easier to research in a small page.
If you figure it out post it back here for others to find. Good luck.

Tried debugging but i can't see anything wrong.I guess all i can do is rewrite.
