I m working on VC++ application using Oracle with ODatabase.
I m able to execute the query "SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL"...
but how to take this data in a Date variable in my application...
Can anybody help me out???

I've an MFC application which uses SQL connection using Namedpipes. I'm getting crash in the application log as follows.
Fault address: 7331293E 01:0000193E C:\bin\DBNMPNTW.DLL
Call stack:
Address Frame
7331293E 013D68DC ConnectionTransact+1AE
I'm not getting any clue of why the crash is happening at this point. After opening for a long time, it just crashes at this point !!!!!
Appreciate if some body can shed a light on the reason, what all could be the reason.

I am trying to understand the impact of network traffic on data performance in my environment.
For example, if I am inserting 2 million rows into a database then how can I determine how much time is spent on network traffic? And how can I determine the savings of performing a batch update?

I don't know what to tell you about HOW to measure the network overhead as I am not a network professional, I imagine you'd have to inspect the packets going over the wire. But I CAN tell you that batches get exponentially faster than RBAR (row by agonizing row) transfers the more data you're working with. Imagine what the network overhead is for one round trip to your database. When you perform batches that overhead becomes a constant. But when you perform RBAR operations over the network that overhead is added for EVERY row. If you are working with that much data then it shouldn't even be a question of wither or not to batch update. Use BULK INSERT or SSIS/DTS but don't do it RBAR.

Remember the error is coming from Oracle, not from C#.
Set the commandtype to stored procedure.

Hi All,
When I try to enter a command in any of the modules in a MS Access database, the command turns RED. It also constantly moves the cursorn to the left leaving NO spaces.
Trying to enter a command such as DoCmd. will open the popup window and then immediately close, and the DoCmd. turns RED.
Please tell me what is causing this. The database functions properly, but entering new code is a real pain.

Just insert teh values as suppplied, then when you are looking for them use
select *<br />
from table<br />
where convert(varbinary,username) = convert(varbinary,@inputvalue)
Using varbinary effectively makes the select case sensitive

Change collation to something case sensitive if you want to have case sensitivity.

Can I ask if this is correct.
Wince 5.0 has SQL3.0 (or SQL3.1 with the sp1) ?
What do you do for Wince 6.0? while using VS2005?
I had SQL3.0 working after the same old problem that everyone else has had with the P/invoke error. (VS2005 didn't copy the cabs into the correct directory - Deploy error) also sqlceme30.dll wasn't in the windows directory.
Fixed....
No problemss...
Yeah right, I got a new machine with wince6.0 on it.
Back to square one!
Now, it doesn't matter what I do, the same error keeps comming up 'P/invoke cant find sqlceme30.dll'.
I did notice that when you manually install the .cab files (sqlce30.wce5.armv4i.cab and sqlce30.repl.wce.arm4vi.cab)they say that 'this is not the compatable software platform, do you want to continue?'
Is this an incompatability with wince6.0?
Am I meant to use sqlce3.5?
Isn't this only in VS2008?
Is there another way around this or do I have to upgrade to VS2008?
