Hi Guffa,
I am trying to count the number of pages in a document and return the value to a variable. I am using ASP.NET (VB) running ASP.NET 2.0 on IIS6.0 Win2k3. I have acheived this result when running the code as an Administrator, the problem comes in when running the code as Network Service which indicates a permissions issue of some sort?
What do you think?

Going by the CreateObject function he has mentioned, it looks like he is trying to do some automation stuff either with StarOffice or OpenOffice.

Either the classID is not registered properly (installation issue) or Permissions problem for ASP.NET?

Hi Vasudevan,
I think it is a permissions issue persoanlly, but am completely open to suggestions for things to try.. The reason I think it's permissions is because when running the code under an administrator it works fine (ie creates the object) and continues running the code. Your thoughts?

Hi,
Well after much reading of many posts, I 'tweaked' the process model to make it run under a System Account but unfortunatley this does not work either. It does not fall over with Cannot create ActiveX object, it just 'seems' to hang on this line of code. When I have a look at the task bar on the server I see soffice.bin and soffice.exe being launched, but it's launched under Netwrrok Service.
Does anyone know if it is possible for me to physically log Network Service in and run Open Office while logged in to it? I just want to make sure this is not an issue with some sort of setup, ie like a spalsh screen asking me to agree to terms and conditions etc.

I need to develop the control like r.a.d which resides in toolbox which will drag into our web page (eg: textbox,label,grid control etc.).

I have a detail view with paging enable the user are allowed to view first three page of detail view and after that the user is authenticated if the user is registered then s/he is allowed to navigate to next pageindex other wise asked to registration.
How can I do this

well apply a admin/user column in your login table
apply 1 to user
0 for admin
then check which one they are when the page loads and apply appropriate filtering.

For the detailsview
Capture the selectedindexchanged and ask for the pageindez value
if pageindex > 3 and user not authenticated then
redirect to log in or signup

Hi all,
I have a problem with my TreeView. The ASP TreeView's SelectedNode is a readonly property. I do infact select the Node I want with Node.Selec(); and Node.Selected = true;
But wen selecting the node like that it does not update the SelectedNode Property, that only updates when I click on a specific node...
Can anyone tell my what I am missing or is that just the way it is

Why is it every three days...

I m running an ASP.NET Web site.sometimes when it is runs live the CPU usage becomes 100%. and everything Hangs.
Can anybody tells me why this is happening.
