I have written validations in javascript ..un-fortunately they are not working...
In my page i am having few text boxes and on a button click i am checking whether the text is "" or not ... and providing a alert box ...
present scenario doesnt allows me to use asp.net validation controls...

Is the alert box not showing?
Does the code work in any other browser?
Javascript can be disabled using the browser

If you are trying to check is the text is ""(empty) then refer to control like this controlname.InnerText with javascritp code.

its working fine with IE6 ....i will check it with inner text .........
There is one more question for which i am looking for past one day on net its cross browser compatability ..every where it is explained what is it but no where it is written how to solve it ..please tell me how to solve it

Cross compatability relates to an app working in different browsers.
If an app works in IE and not in mozilla its not always the same reason
sometimes it can be stylesheets, sometimes bits of code like javascript
There is no one way to fix execept by testing your app in multiple browsers as you develop

I agree with you, I had have problem in style of application when I run on mozilla, it really crashed all design but i fixed it by testing time by time in mozilla.

there exists one Mozilla Add-on [^]to download from internet, which makes mozilla browser like IE. you can programmatically require user to install that Add-on if it isn't installed.

i have designed the similar kinda script and it is running fine on every browser.... what you are doing...can't say
there may be the problem in master pages/content pages scenario...
is it case with you?

Hi All,
I am developing a solution where on a page m using some ajax control (hover menu, updatepanel, extender menu). I am getting about 1400 search results from database and I am puttin it in repeater control (No paging).
All these things causing this warning message. Is there any resolution.
Will paging help ??? If yes what is the maximum number of results which I can put on my page.

Bad one it will take long time to load all results Show only 10/20/30 depends on business/requirement/user
Take the example of Google i think shows thousands of result found but will show only first 10 (Max Views).
I think paging will solve your problem
Again you are using AJAX as per my knowledge this is not going to add any new values

Searching results is not taking much time but I have Entities kind of thing (collection of properties) binding data to that entity is taking much time.
But sometime when I am not searchin any results then also this pop up is coming.
Any way where I can check which one is the script which taking the time.
I think problem is something related to number of scripts running on the IE, coz IE has a limitation about that.

IE do not has such limitations.
have you registered your scripts on clinet side thorughly ? it will resolve some issues... there may be cases that even after a page load, browser behaves like still downloading the page (waiting state ) .....cause by such unregistered scripts

I'm using ajax in my application. And in a same page i'm showing differnt-2 categories in same datalist. Each time only datalist updated.
Now i want to change meta tag(title,keyword and description) programmatically with the change of category.
how i can do that. Please help me.

hi,
Actually in a page name category.aspx, there is a menu on left side where different categories are listed. in click of menu items i'm papulating categorycontents in the datalist control. I have taken datalist control inside the ajax updatepanel. So that every time on click of memu item i can update that updatepanel.
these things are running well. But since page is refereshing, the meta tag related to different categories listed in menu item is not changing.
The description of the meta tag is comming from the database.
How i can do this.

hmm well just run an update query which updates the meta tag and then re select it from the database everytime the update is performed

Since the Virtual Directory is subject to destruction in case of Windows installation, I always backup my ASP.NET code to another non-virtual directory.
After installing my OS, I restore my code to the virtual directory by "Copy and Paste".
It gives the following runtime error
" It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."
To solve the problem, I had to create a new project in the virtual directory, then import all my old files.
This solution works well.
But my project size increases day after day, and sometimes I get confused while importing my files.
So, is there any way to use the "Copy and Paste" method without errors?
