I'm not sure why memory consumption should be an issue. The traditional arguments against using GOTO are outlined in this article[^]. What are you using GOTO for?

its better not to use goto statement. try to use some alternate to perform the functionality.

Thanks for your answer. I design my database in sqlserver2005 and application in delphi and create a udl file then i try to connect to remote machine that sqlserver2005 installed . but i could not connect.

What is the Error when you try to Connect?

i was gonna Say post your code so i see if there is something wrong, am not into Delphi and i don't know how the syntax looks like, am into .NET C# or Vb then it would be easy for me to help you. Why do you still use Delphi if i may ask, what is it there is there and that is not in .NET?

I run sql server 2005 management studio and then select network server, i see my remote machine name , then i select remote machine name and select windows authenitication tnen click connect but sql server give login fail the user ... .

Do you have Permissions to Access that server?

Check you login if its Correct.

Do you have SQl installed in your system?

I installed sql server2005 on two computer and in start->run->ip address(or name) i could connect to another computer ; but in sql server configuration and service when i want to change local server to network server ;sql server message could not logon to ip address.

Design and create your database. then use the connection string having the datasource name equal to your server name.

Hi,

Need to insert only specific columns from a .csv file while importing to SQL Server2005 using bulk import.
My problem is i have 4 columns a,b,c,d in my .csv file,but i need only two columns a and b only to be imported using bulk import.

You can achieve this using a Format File. See this article[^].

I have tried it from a similar link from msdn.But i am facing a problem.

I followed this link to the tee.

But i am getting an error;I worked this way

First i created a database by the name "AdventureWorks".

Then i creted a table like ;

USE AdventureWorks;

CREATE TABLE myTestSkipCol

Col3 nvarchar(50) not NULL
);
GO

I created a .dat file by the name "myTestSkipCol2.dat"

1,DataForColumn3

Then i copied the XML file by the name "myTestSkipCol2.Xml" in the C:Drive

Here is the problem;I am getting an error "Msg 4820, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Could not bulk insert. Unknown version of format file 'C:\nm.fmt'.
"

I tried different ways like giving the extension as ".XML" and ".ftm".I tried different permutations and combinations.

Your query references a format file called myTestSkipCol2.Xml. This isn't consistent with the error message you reported.
