I am not the database administrator however and he is not contactable today
Shall I give you a detail of what I have done so far to try and connect the web server to the sql server which are on different machines.
Our firewall is not blocking any ports
web server is not blocking any ports from being accessed
The port 1433 and IP address 172.16.0.10 can be pinged from my machine
The same can be done using telnet, both are successful
I have checked my connection string that I am using and it seems to be correct.
TCP/IP and Named Pipes are both enabled on SQL Server
any help would be great thanks

Do you have SQL authentication username and password for the database server ??

in the connection string would I just use the normal login and password for the database?

ok Im getting a new error message now
it was the 500 error message when i try and run the code but now i turned friendly error messages off its:
No suitable nodes are available to serve your request.

Yes, how about this rebuttal: This is the ASP.NET forum. Not the ADO.NET one. Nor the SQL Server one.
Try googling for "surface area configuration" sql 2005 and you might get lucky.

ASP.NET is the web part of the .net framework. Not the database part. So indeed, you are absolutely right, it says clearly on top of the screen that this is NOT the ADO.NET (which is the data access part of the .net framework) or the SQL Server forum.
In SQL Server 2000 remote connections are enabled by default. Its from the time when MS felt that security should be an option for people with special interests.

I can not bind a validator to any of my controls
the validator property named "ControlToValidate" does not recognize any of my controls (I am using Visual Studio.NET 2003)

This works properly, but the problem occure in case of importing predesigned html form
However, I discovered that I had to convert all my form fields to server controls before validating them

You have to save the Image to the Server (file path) and set the ImageUrl property of the Image control to the file path.

You can also use Binary datatype, which is common for all the binary files (doc, xls, whatever)

No, I have saved the image in the sql column as image datatype.
And i have retrieved the image and converted to bytes[] as in the previous message.
I am trying whether it works out from System.Drawing.Image to System.web.UI.Image.
My Actual problem is to load the image directly to the treeview icons.
Also I don't get "Image" property in the Intelisense box. It shows only the "Image Url" Property. How to define the image.

That is what I am telling you. There is not property as "Image" (which accepts bytes/System.Drawing.Image as value) in web world. So, you have to get the bytes and store it as a file (say mypicture.jpg), then use that image url and assign that to the ImageUrl property of your TreeView icons.

You would have to create a seperate page or preferable an http handler for you image. You would set the image url on your tree view to this page with, for example, a query string parameter identifying the image in the database to be retrieved.
e.g. ImageUrl = "MyImagePage.aspx?ImageId=XX";
Then inside your MyImagePage.aspx you would write some code along the lines of that shown below. Note: You must make sure no other content is sent down along with the bytes i.e. no html in the code infront if you use an aspx page (which is one reason why a handler would be better).

I have a dropdown,textbox,"Go" button and a gridview.I have bind the dropdownlist with the column name that appear in gridview.I have written the following code for binding the dropdownlist with the column that appears in the gridview and call that method on the page load.

Now i want to filter the data in the gridview.If user select a particular column name from the dropdownlist and enter some text in to the textbox and click the "Go buton",the grid view should filter the data according to that column name which user has selected in the dropdown and the text that the user has enter in to the textbox and show it in the gridview.
Please let me know how to filter the data in gridview by column name.Currently i am in the middle of the project.Please explain by giving some example or by providing some useful link related to this topic so that i can refere to.

Hi All,
I have upgraded my Project from .NET 2005 to 2008. I have added add <codesubdirectories>
<add directoryname="Folder1" />
<add directoryname="Folder2" />
<add directoryname="Folder3" />
<add directoryname="Folder4" />
<add directoryname="CS_AppCode" />
</codesubdirectories>
This works fine in 2005 but not in 2008. Is there anything I am missing???
Please help me...

i am creating the radio button list controls dynamically.in the pageload event

after clicking on the save button..wat are the values i have seleted from the radio button lists these values should be insetred in to the database..this is my requirement.
for the button click event iw rote the code like this
