Hi Friends,

I know xmlrcp-c library(C++ lib to communicate with the Xindice)can be used to acces to the Xindice server.

But i could not found any details regarding the server procedures exposed by the Xindice XML-RPC API.

Please help me.
I am realy stuck with problem for a couple of days......

That's because it is completely dependent on the Server. What is exposed is whatever services developers put on the server and expose using a XML-RPC interface. It seems you have not understood what XML-RPC is[^].

Let me to say my understanding about calling Xindice with its XML-RPC API Interface from a C++ application.

1. Xindice exposes its server procedures though its XML-RPC API Interface(For C++).
2. It is only needed to call those methods (server procedures or Database operation) exported by the library.

Please inform me if my understanding makes sense.

Please give me with some link or any useful information for finding the Xindice XML-RPC Interface for C++. I has been the searching for the same for the last one week.

No. I provided a link to a page that explains what XML-RPC is, did you read it? Did you read any of the other pages it links to?

What is XML-RPC?

It's a spec and a set of implementations that allow software running on disparate operating systems, running in different environments to make procedure calls over the Internet.

It's remote procedure calling using HTTP as the transport and XML as the encoding. XML-RPC is designed to be as simple as possible, while allowing complex data structures to be transmitted, processed and returned.

Hi Led Mike,

I have gone thorough the XML-RPC documentation.

Could you please answer(YES/NO) to some questiona?

1. To communicate to Xindice Database from C++ application, it is needed to use its Xindice XML-RPC C++ Inteface?

2. Or any general library available in the web can be used for this purpose and we only needs to invoke the methods in the server machine from the client side?

I have provided you the link to the Wikipedia Page on XML-RPC which states:

XML-RPC is a remote procedure call protocol which uses XML to encode its calls and HTTP as a transport mechanism.

If you do not understand what that means I can't explain it to you, perhaps you need to click on the links in that sentence on that page as a start to begin to understand the sentence.

I am havng an XML File in the format

All i want to do is to select distinct Con_ID from
this XML File using VB.NET Code.... How can i do this

Hi,

If you are using the latest version of the .Net framework then this task can be performed easily using LINQ.

Below is an example of what you are trying to do in C#:

XDocument servers = XDocument.Load(@"C:\server.xml");<br />
<br />
            var q = from c in servers.Descendants("server")<br />
                      orderby (string)c.Element("con_id") ascending<br />
                      group c by (string)c.Element("con_id");<br />
<br />

Hello everybody,

I'm hoping someone would have done this before; because I run into a need for something similar fairly frequently;

I'd like a generic XSLT that performs the following translation

--Input XML

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<config>
<parent id="parent1">
<item id="item1" name="Foo" attr="SomeOtherAttr"/>
</parent>

<child id="child1" inherits="parent1">
<item1 id="item2" name="NewItem" someOtherAttr="YetMoreAttributes"/>

You can see this models inheritence in traditional languages, it would increase the flexibility of my XML configuration significantly. But writing XSLT is such a paradigm shift it's difficult to imagine the XSLT transform to do this.
If anyone can point me at existing/similar code (eg, xslt merge element) or if any of you xslt gurus have a complete implementation already handy. That'd be great.

i want to parse an XML file and extract the fields.is theer any generic parser in VC++ 8 (or even C++) so that even if i add one more tag to my XML file with little modification the program should work.

If you are considering using XML in your software I strongly urge you to spend some time learning the XML technology space before making decisions about how your going to use XML in your software. This might prove a sizable learning curve since the XML space is quite large now.

You could start here[^] but I don't suggest you consider that sufficient.

I work primarily with C++ and trying to get a handle on XML. Consider the following class of data:
classA
{
CString name;
int widgits[3];
}

Lets assume the data for the items in the class is:
name = "Bob"
widgits = {1,6,9}

If I was to create an XML file to hold data such as that above, how would the array of widgits be represented?

Would it look something like this?

<data>
<name>Bob</name>
<widgit>1</widgit>
<widgit>2</widgit>
<widgit>3</widgit>
</data>

It doesnt seem that having 3 child elements named "widgit" under the parent named "data" would be correct. Afteral how would it get read back in correctly?

Any help or keyword that I could use for a search would be appreciated. Even a good book on the subject !

It would be more like:

<data>
	<name>Bob</name>
	<widgits>
		<widgit>1</widgit>
		<widgit>2</widgit>
		<widgit>3</widgit>
	</widgits>
</data>

since the widgets element would serve as a container (array) of widgets.

Yes basically it is. Sometimes people or systems prefer a more verbose representation but the same basic principle applies:

<data>
<name>Bob</name>
<widgetList>
<widgit>1</widgit>
<widgit>2</widgit>
<widgit>3</widgit>
</widgetList>
</data>
