i made program in VS2008 with Framework 3.5
and i sow that it canot work on win 2000.
what can i do ?

Have you installed the .NET Framework v3.5 on that computer? It looks like .NET Framework 3.0 and later no longer have support for Windows 2000, so you'll need to compile this against the Framework 2.0.

Is it even possible to run the .NET 3.5 Framework on a Windows 2000 machine? I know VS2008 won't work, but I am curious about just the .NET 3.5 runtime.

I think you're right Paul. I just double-checked and it does appear that .NET Framework 3.0 and 3.5 no longer have support for Windows 2000.

I wasn't too sure. I guess it may be time soon to upgrade all of my Virtual PC boxes

If you are stuck with having to support Windows 2000 in your app, you'll need to stick with .NET 2.0. If it is a requirement to utilize .NET 3.5 in your app, then there isn't much you can do for the Windows 2000 users. They'll need to upgrade whether they like it or not.

As has been said you will have to target .NET 2.0.
However, they have said that Silverlight specifically will eventually be available for Windows 2000 and that is a subset of .NET 3.5 (there's a graphic somewhere on the web showing this).

Yes, I have seen the same thing although I can only find some forum posts (here[^] and here[^]) that confirm this is the case.

hi.. i use c# wpf blend..
i cant do the menuitem in wpf project like what i did in vs where the designer will handle the thing for me..
how should i display drop down in my menu ?? e.g. file.. save.. open...

You have to go into the Collection Editor for the menu items and take it from there.

Look around at Josh Smith's articles on WPF around here. He might have something on it ( I'm not sure but it seems like he's done 15-20 articles on WPF ).

hi
so far see that when u execute this command in sql server 2005 :
select * from Sales.SalesOrderDetail
result set display result immediately and loading continue until all data load.
(the elapsed time to load all records [121317 records] is 3-4 seconds)
but when i use BeginExecuteReader in my app, my app did not display result set immediately and wait until all records load and then display result, how to i execute like sql server that display result set immediately and don't wait until all data load ?

it's a tad worrying that you want to display 121317 records to the user in one go. Can they really assimilate that quantity of data?
To get a faster response time to your user, page the data. Go get a 100 records, display them, then go get 100 more.

I cant see whats wrong. The table is correct, both the values are strings and the sql seems fine to me.

Is MetaData a keyword? Should it be surrounded with [] or something? Maybe you should choose a different name for your table?

Value is a reserved keyword. Rename the field in the table, or if that is not possible, put brackets around the name: [Value].

Hello,
Is it safe to develop windows application with MS Access Database now as I am thinking, Windows Vista and other future versions may not support MS Access ? If I develop MS Access based windows application and I have Office 2003 installed in my machine, do my customers need Office 2003 to run my ACCESS based windows application or they can have any office version installed like MS office 2007 or do they need to have office at all ?

Assuming that you are developing your Windows application in .NET and only using Access as a data store, your users don't need Office installed on their PCs.

thanks for your reply. Actually I read an article and it was said that, using MS Access for data storage by applications is discouraged by Microsoft, rather microsoft encourage to use SQL Server Express instead. But I found MS Access is more convenient because my user dont need to install SQL Server. Anyway, thanks for answering me, now I am comfortable to use ACCESS.
Moreover, it is a good news indeed that my user dont need MS office installed in order to run windows application that uses MS Access. Before I though negative.
