How do I read cnnection string from web config file

I had the following code:

Dim constr as string<br />
 Dim mysystem as system.configuration.configuration<br />
mysystem=system.web.configuration.webconfigurationmanager.openwebconfigura tion(Nothing)<br />
 Dim mycon as System.Configuration.ConnectionSettings<br />
 mycon=mysystem.connectionstrings.connectionstrings("CString1")<br />
 constr =mycon.connectionstring

he code above returned the error below:
"Object not sent to an instance of an object" on the line

constr =mycon.connectionstring<br />

Please where did I get it wrong.

To read a connection string from web.config using WebConfigurationManager, all you need to do is:

Dim constr As String = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("CString1")

hi it will run in localhost, when upload to server it will come error

the error..

hai all plse help me to solve this problem.

I have two aspx pages.from one page i am calling 2nd page through java script(window.open). in second page i have one grid. when i select one recrod from tat grid i will get one id. based on that id i need to populate the dropdown in first page.

plse help me

In your parent's Page_Load event, add a block at the top to look for a Request.QueryString("id")

So...

Page_Load:

If Not Request.QueryString("id") Is Nothing Then
'Do databinding here to the drop down list based on this ID.
End If

Then redirect the parent page to itself using the ID query string ("id=value").

Thank you verymuch Mr Daniel Minnaar for ur reply.In my case i am not redirecting my 2nd page to first page.I am calling 2nd page as a popwindow through javascript.so based on the id selecting from 2nd page grid at that time itself the dropdown list should be populated with out redirecting to parent page.in this case how i can use page load event?
plse give me a proper solution.

You'll need to look in to Programmatically modifying DNS, and IIS. Simple Google's on both will yeild tons of results.

You may also need to check out permissions.

hello every one
I am facing a problem with the IFrame, I have to load the url into IFrame and when the user click on any link within this Iframe It will have to open a new browser window with the clicked link. So I am unable to open the clicked link from the Iframe into new browser window, When I opened clicked link from Iframe, each time it opens page(home page /first page loaded into Iframe of the url link).

1)How can I open clicked link from the Iframe into new browser.
Also I have to take the value of clicked link url from the child browser when the user close the child browser.
So
2) How can I get clicked link value into my form control eg in a TextBox from the child browser.

From point 2 I means that for eg. In my form there is textbox and I frame. Textbox contains values of url and url have to be loaded into IFrame. Suppose http:\\www.yahoo.com is the value in the text box and http:\\www.yahoo.com is loaded into Iframe.
So problem start from here-- when user clicked on any link of yahoo.com from the Iframe, the clicked link have to open in a new browser and user can click any link of the new browser window, So finally when the user close the new browser window, the url value of the browser window have to be come into textbox. So i have to take the clicked link url values into my form , How can I do this..???

Hello,
I am working in oracle 10g,
and I have done package that contains cursor
and I have use cursor to return rows from DB.

the package
TYPE T_CURSOR IS REF CURSOR;

output of stored procedure
-PISLAST : to check the last page (Yes/No)
-PCUROR :["PCUROR" OUT T_CURSOR] is the result of the query

The procedure works great in Oracle

I want to use cursor as datasource of data list
I have done the following

....
Iam using Oracle.DataAccess.Client; name space
....

OracleParameter ResultSet = new OracleParameter();
ResultSet.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
ResultSet.ParameterName = "PCUROR";
ResultSet.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.RefCursor;
cmd.Parameters.Add(ResultSet);
.....
I know how to use stored procedure in .net and out variable but I did know how to the cursor

In the SelectedIndexChanged event of your drop down list, seperate your value types using the IsNumeric function in Visual Basic.

If IsNumeric(myDropDownList.Items(0).ToString())
myNumericTextBox.Text = myDropDownList.Items(0).ToString()

Actually, the drop down list might use a property of SelectedText or something. Can't remember.

i have retun coding to bind the value from to gridview textbox.... if i select the dropddoewn value i am getting both the numeric and character value in a single gridview textbox... i need to display the numeric value in 1 txt box and char in another inside the gridview

In Treeview have function showcheckbox for node
I check it is true

Nomal when i check to the checkbox and click on text, treeview will postback to server on event TreeNodeCheckChanged

But i want to check on CheckBox so it will postback to server on event TreeView1_TreeNodeCheckChanged
dont need click on text.

How can i do that ?

To put it simply, you can't. The TreeView control that ships with ASP .NET is designed like that. You could however, create a custom control which inherits from the TreeView and modify it slightly, but thats going to require some work...

Hi I want to implement paypal in my website. I my website user have to pay some amount to become member of my site. I want to implement paypal for payment gateway. I don't want to redirect user to paypal i am taking all user credit card info on my page and sending this info to paypal (like authorize.net)and receive the response. How can i do this.

Pretty sure its in Paypals rules that your not allowed to take card details before it gets to their site.

I recently did an ASP.NET site with paypal and all I ended up parsing was a cost, product type, and my own reference number. You can either parse the info in a querystring or you can parse the info to paypal in a post.

You can customise paypal pages to look like your site though.

You should enter the multiple emails by seperating ";" in your textbox..

mail.To = "me@mycompany.com;him@hiscompany.com;her@hercompany.com";

Yah. I know. that's why I'm telling you to put the ";" between each mail id. what you can do for validation is that if the user enter more than one email id, you should check whether it's seperated by ";" or not. if not then ask the user to enter ";" between mail addresses...
