Look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office and you will see keys something like 10.0, 11.0, etc., along with possibly some others, depending on the Office bundled products you have installed like MS Project, etc.

Enumerate the keys and find the version of office that is installed.

Note - this is not 100% foolproof because there can be more than one Office release installed on the machine.

In that case you don't know which version the user will be using at the time they are using you're application, but it will work most of the time and you can program for the least common denominator or give them an option if there are more than one version of Office installed.
