just a small session on English Grammar.

'did' cannot be used with past for eg: 'did u asked' is absolutely wrong.it shud be 'did u ask'. I used to go with this same mistake too often till someone who made a change in my life pointed out the exact issue.thats how we can learn,i guess.

Does any one know how i can make a page post data from a database without the submit button being clicked. It will automatically do it when the database has been modified or updated or will post after a time interval

1. you can use javascript setTimeout to call a function to post back automatically after a set time. or
2. you can add a meta tag for refresh=time

afaik, the client (browser) has no way to know if the data has changed on the server (database) unless you go post back the page to the server.

in the head section of asp page type this

setTimeout(postbackPage, 60000); // call postbackPage after 1 minute

function postbackPage() {
// submit the form
document.formname.submit();
// OR you can call click event of submit button
document.submitbutton.click();
}

U are a Genius!!!I take it this refreshes the whole page...in order to reduce time it refreshes can i just refresh the table that holds the information.

in that case you have to use AJAX, if you know AJAX then convert your page to AJAX enabled page otherwise whole page has to be refreshed.

I have an asp page wichh submit two fields, title and contents. Now if user types single code ('), or semi-colon (;) and replace (the word REPLACE) then on submitting the form, page crashes.

Any help please..

Note: it is working fine on development server (win 2003) but crashing on production server (win 2000)

since single quote is a reserved character in SQL, u need to replcae it with some other character before inserting into the DB.u can easily use a simple 'replace' method.

like
replace("'","~")

SmtpServer is obsolete in .NET 2.0, you shoud use SmtpClient.

Check MSDN documetation.

I have a working sample on a diffrent computer But my internet "died" there.

Did you tried to get what is in InnerText, before assining a value, the problem coud be before assaining value. Note that i can't try, because i dont have accsess to my pc.

Did you checked you gave app.config write permision?

I am trying to post information from a form to a database but i keep getting the following error:

i commented it because it came up with another error : ADODB.recordset arguements are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another. Any ideas???
