Hi everyone,
I asked this question on the Lounge but it seems it was correct forum for this question.
What is it and how can I solve it?
On my system when I am using of Internet Explorer(IE6 with SP1 and OS is XP) its working good and opens sites without problem but after a time(Random) sudden it freeze and I must use of Task Manager for close it,it contains all Internet explorer that are opens.
I scaned my system for viruses and didnt find any virus

maybe you could try going into windows components (add/remove programs -> add/remove windows components) and uninstalling/reinstalling it. Alternatively, upgrade to IE7 and see if your situation changes at all there

Do you know how can I solve this problem if I want to use of IE6.

I have seen this problem as well. In my case, it was always when using Adobe's PDF viewer. This seems to hang IE for long periods of time.

But I dont use of Adobe's PDF viewer.

in my system, there are two exe with name of "explorer.exe" that they are running!
if i end the process of first(main) explorer.exe, the second one runs explorer.exe(main) and both processes are listed in processes list(windows task manager)
do a virus do this work? or ... ???

no, you can run as many copies of explorer as you like.

but, i don't end the main explorer.exe!
(the main explorer.exe == the parent of processes)
second explorer.exe runs the main explorer.exe, expressly!
why does system run two, spontaneous, explorer.exe?

The explorer.exe process is also the process that acts as the operating system "shell" (your desktop, task tray, etc.) as well as the process that acts as the "explorer" window you see when you click on the "Computer" icon or the "Windows Explorer" application.

But I have only an explorer on the OS but on the other OS when I want to open a drive I have two explorers do you know why?

This is the message I get when trying to delete two files generated by MSVC 6.0. Both the .exe and the .ilk file are affected. I cannot generate a new executable because the existing one cannot be deleted. This is what VC says:
Linking...
LINK : LNK4073: cannot create map for .ILK file; linking nonincrementally
LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file ".\<filename>.exe"
Error executing link.exe.
Note: <filename> is a placeholder in this message for the actual name.
The .exe file no longer has its custom icon and the .ilk file is 0 bytes. I've tried logging off but that does not work.
Does anyone out there know of a tool that can perform an unconditional delete?

Platform: XPPro/XPe
Dev Tools: VS2005, VC++, ATL, .Net
I have a service based application that requires to be able to access a network share using a unc path. There could be several unc paths on separate NT Domains.
Whilst is is possible to assign a user on each NT Domain for my application to access the share I would like to, at run time pass in the domain\user name & password, so that my app can access the appropriate files.
Each unc access will run in a separate thread and from reading the platform SDK docs it looks like I need to Set the token for this thread. However I can not find out how to convert my domain\user name & password in a token.
can someone please point me in the right direction.

You need to call LogonUser to get a token. Then use ImpersonateLoggedOnUser to set the token for the thread. Once you've finished using the share, use RevertToSelf.

hey guys, i wonder if anyone has an easy solution for this one 
i have to configure a computer to use separate internet connections per application, under Windows XP
i can only do that much using the ROUTE command, and honestly that worked for me, up until certain IPs started to change and well all hell broke loose.
so does anyone know of a program (or anything appropriate) that can force a program to use a specific interface/default gateway ?
for instance: make Firefox use a wifi and IE use lan, or specify the accounting software here to go through the VPN and all other traffic through normal default gateway.
windows firewall can restrict per application, put it doesn't do what's needed.
suggestions?

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what people in this forum preferred, Windows XP or Linux, i personally use Windows XP as I have been using Windows the majority of my life. However i have used Linux, some time ago when I installed it on my Laptop, i found it Ok considering it was a free source piece of software. Although Windows does offer functions that are not present on Linux such as disc defragmentation and disc clean up, such utility software is vital to some.
So,
What do you prefer, Windows or Linux?

as a windows developer, i use visual studio and thus my environment is windows xp.
since i work at home and at work, i'm still forced to use windows xp.
(not that it's bad)
but i always have a dual boot into some fresh linux distro (openSUSE 10.3 and waiting to try ubuntu 7.10) on my laptop, cause i always like to play with those, but never get the chance to fully use them.
my downloading machine at home is with openSUSE 10.2 (gonna get updated  ) and it also acts as a full time VPN server, web/ftp personal server and handles local routing/filtering.
uptime exceeds 1 year, and runs marvelously, also it plays the movies at home.
conclusion:
i know XP all too well, thus i work faster with it.
i work with XP and all my programs are designed for Windows.
other software i use (Adobe Suite, 3Ds MAX .. ) aren't available in linux.
since i'm also a gamer, linux ain't for gaming.
thus XP.
