Problem resides here. Because the file is in remote machine who uses the windows application. And you are trying to see that in your local ASP.NET application. This is not possible since you don't have a virtual path access to the file. Copying file from that machine to local machine is also not a good solution.
You can solve this by keeping image in database as BLOB data. Check this[^] to get started with that.

As you are creating an ASP.NET application so I would suggest you to use FileUpload control to upload the said file to your server’s working directory. Here is a small example which does that:

I am able to upload and save it in database...
I am using Sqlserver2005 and i took datatype image to store the uploaded file..
The document is storing in binary format in database...
Now,i want to retrieve the document in a Textbox which i am not able to do...

I am able to get the images but i need MS-Word Document...
can u suggest me which is the better way to show the word document...
For Eg:
when u visit naukri.com and click on register u will fill all the details and
upload resume...and when u want to update the resume, u will see it in a
textbox(multiline).
I am able to store the uploaded file in the database,but not able to retrieve
it from database and show the content in the textbox

So you need to show the contents to a text box ? Right. Try saving the file after reading from database to a temporary place. Then read it from there. Read contents to a byte array and save it using FileStream object. Then try reading file from that location. But still I am not sure that you can read a word file using StreamReader without loosing the formatting !

You just need to install the version of .NET framework along with VS version(to which you are looking to upgrade). Thereafter, you can migrate your earlier projects to the new version by some easy steps.
If this does not solve this issue, then please give a detail description of your requirements.

Use the Save AS.. method for file upload control to save youe file on to server then give the path for your server where you want to store the file.

FTP in ASP.NET 1.1 is a bit cumbersome process compared to .NET 2.0 where different new classes have been added. You may view following forum post which gives an idea on how to create your own FTP client in 1.1:

Also note that in order to write an ASP.NET application that allows users to transfer files to and from FTP servers, the files must make two trips.
To upload files from a browser to the FTP Server would require:

2. Once a file is on the web server, it can then be transferred to the FTP server using FTP communication.
The crux is, you have to use HTTP as well as FTP communication for the same

well using more and more session effects server speed. You can reduce number of sessions by passing information through querystring etc.

Definetly as session are going to store at server side the memory requirement for your application will increase if you use many session variables so if you have to store 3 to 5 varaibles then you can use session but 30 session varaibles sounds bad ...
Why are you storing those things in session ...... ?
Why don't you use database or pass them in query string if data is not concern to security ....
Or yuo can create xml files to store the data

After repeated attempts, I have un-istalled IIS on the server and tried to Reinstall it again.The files on the installation cd seems to be corrupt because it cannot be copied across.As a result, the Exchange is no longer working due to the smtp service being removed.Is the some way to install IIS from an exe application or can these files be downloaded from somewhere?I Have tried to use the files from Windows server 2003 but it does not work.
