i got a url in a variable called "rptUrl.appURL".
value of rptUrl.appURL is https://www.microsoft.com/app/report_data.csv
This csv file i want to save to a local folder...
How can i do using C# code?.

Hi
I was install wse2.0 and restart my computer. When I was install it i checked option "Visual Studio .NET Developer". Then I create my new solution and add three project like in this site:
http://www.15seconds.com/issue/040603.htm. Similar sample is on this site: http://www.codeproject.com/cs/webservices/SecurityTokens.asp. But i have problem with WSE. I right click on TestGatewey(project Web Services) and I don't have option WSE2.0 Settings. I don't know why.
I have Visual Studio 2005 ( C# ). Can someone help me ?

Hello
I am using standard procedure to consume web services( add web reference and so ...)
All the mapping is generated for me. I need to include "accept-encoding:gzip" in the http header of the request, so web server will know to compress the response.
I could not find how to do that.

I would not ask on the forum if I did not google it first... I would say that you should read my question a little better! I need to change the header of the request(CLIENT SIDE), not catch it on the server side...

So then I guess this quote from an article on the first page of those search results is of no use to you:
Many web services can return results in compressed format to conserve bandwidth. Given the verbosity of XML, compression can drastically reduce bandwidth consumption. Unfortunately, .NET web-service proxies do not ask for compressed results by default. But it's easy to correct this situation.
Just in case you don't know, "proxy", in this case, means CLIENT SIDE. Perhaps if you did more reading and less mouthing off to people like me your results might improve.

Hey, bro! I know you are the best in the Midwest. I read that article already before...before you were born As I said, I am not writing my own web services class. Instead, I am using built functionality of Visual Studio 2003 and higher to generate all the mappingg automatically (right click on solutions explorer --> Add Web References). That generates References.cs and so on...
Anyway, I just discovered a solution...all that is needed is to set myWebServiceClass.enabledecompression = true this is stupid, but it will add needed accept-encoding attribute to the header of the request and also will decompress the response later...Only Microsoft could come with something like that...confusing but it works...

Does that work? You wouldn't think so given that the default value is true and it enables "decompression" which is not the same thing as requesting compression.

Yes it generates the source code (.cs) file for the web service proxy class. That is how that article is applicable:
The first step is to create a new class derived from the web-service proxy class.
The class the article refers to is HttpWebClientProtocol, the same as the one you are working with, the one with the GetWebRequest() method that you override to add the HTTP header to request compression.
Anyway I hope you get it all working, I suggest you take another look at that article as I believe it has your solution.

It does work apparently.... I know that default for enabledecompression is true. That means, if you get a compressed response client will decompress it. But when you actually set it to true right after Webservice class initialization, it somehow(behind the scenes) adds compression attribute to the header of the request....To conclude enabling "decompression" serves double duty: 1) requests compression and 2) enables decompression amazing

It seems as there's an extra semicolon on the second line, in the code that doesn't work (since this smiley came with:  )
This is what it should look like:
user.DownloadFile("rptUrl.appURL","c:\\storeData.txt");
Try if that works.

I have a c# application which can be launched in different modes. Multiple instances of this application can be launched provied no other instance of the application is running with the same mode. e.g.
My c# application can work in two different modes say
1. abc
2. xyz
What I want is when I try to launch my application in "abc" mode, before launching the application, it should check whether any other instance of the application with "abc" mode is running or not. If instance with "abc" mode is running then running instance will be returned else new instance with mode "abc" will be launched.
There is mechanism in my application through which I can set the mode prior launching the application. As of now, I don't have any idea on how to implement this requirement. I'm seeking some ideas and suggestions on how I can implement such requirement.

I viewed the article you have given prior posting my question. But the article only mentions how to prohibit multiple launching of the application. In my case I have to check the mode of the application prior allowing or prohibiting my application. So I'm confused how I can store application mode related information and how I can validate this information prior launching my application.
Hope now my question is more clear.

Yes sorry, that was not helpful, try looking at the System.Threading.Mutex class. I have not proven it but I suspect it could be used to fulfill your requirements.

Mutex class can help you. If the mode of your application cannot be changed by the user while it is running, then you can create one mutex for "abc" mode and another one for "xyz" mode. For an example of using mutex class to restrict multiple instances have a look at Making the application single-instance section at Window tray minimizer[^]

How many different operating modes are allowed? Two? More than two?

hi .
i create an application that in save operation , save with *.ddi extension.
when a file with this extension (*.ddi) click in windows , want to run my application and show it.
such as *.pdf files that when a user click it Acrobat reader run and show it.
