 Which property to use in order to ensure that atleast one option has been choosen before continuing to clicking a submit button?
Eg..
suppose i have a log in form, i have filled the userID, the password.Now i have a frame which has dept types as option buttons.No default value has been choosen. how do i ensure that atleast one option button is clicked before submitting the form.

What's the container holding the RadioButtons?? Is this a Windows Forms app or Web Forms??
I'm assuming this would be a Web Forms app, in which case, if you wanted this validated BEFORE the form is submitted, I believe you'd have to do the validation using client-side JavaScript code in the page.
I haven't done any ASP.NET development so I'm no expert. You might want to ask this in the ASP.NET forum for a second opinion.

Well, there's something you're not telling me because if you put a bunch of RadioButtons in a container, the first one is always selected, automatically, even if your code sets its Checked value to False.
So I wondering what you did to get it to NOT be selected when you run your code.
But...
If (RadioButton1.Checked Or RadioButton2.Checked Or RadioButton3.Checked) Then
' Something got selected...
Else
' Something did NOT get selected
End If

Hi
I tried to use http://www.codeproject.com/cs/miscctrl/winwordcontrol.asp control on my form. it worked very good but only the first time open the form. but when i close this form and then reopen it, it does not load the word application and an error
The RPC Server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA).
Please help me if someone has any option.

I don't know how it is linked to Word but try the following:
Troubleshooting "RPC Server is Unavailable" in Windows
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type the following line in the Open box, and then click OK:
net start rpcss
Test to see if this resolves the issue. If the issue still occurs, continue to the next step.
2. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories,and then click Command Prompt.
3. At the command prompt, type ping servername, where servername is the server, NetBIOS, DNS, or GUID name that you want to test for connectivity.
If there is a connection issue with one of these computers, contact your network administrator to resolve the issue. If the issue still occurs, continue to the next step.
4. Use the Netdiag tool that is included in the Microsoft Windows Support Tools (included on the Windows CD-ROMs) to determine if the domain controller is working correctly. You can perform a network trace using the MSRPC, DNS, NBT, LDAP, or TCP protocols.
If there is an issue with the domain controller, contact your network administrator to resolve the issue. If the issue still occurs, continue to the next step.
5. Use the Netdom tool that is included in the Windows Support Tools to verify network trust relationships and reset or establish a connection to a server.

This is probably caused because your code didn't shutdown and free up the Word object when you closed your application the first time.

I tried the hotfix provided by microsoft but it didn't fixed the problem. but finally i found the solution which is
object = nothing does not release the com resources properly so instead of using this way i used
Marshal.ReleaseCOMObject(object) (.net version 1.1)
Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(oApp) (.net Version 2.0)

I am using Crystal Reports in my application I made using Visual Studio.NET.
I installed my application on the client machine, with all the DLLs
required(added the merge modules), the engine and the rest. When I start my
application and, from it, try to open up a report I get an exception "Query
engine error: C:\WINDOWS\Temp\temp_*******.rpt" with some wierd numbers
instead of *******. Can anyone tell me what the problem is here and how to
solve it. I am running the application on Windows 98.

Hello All,
Well i am working with collections in the project.
I have set the datasource property of the datagrid to a collection (I am not using dataset just the collection).
I am unable to format the datagrid using the tablestyles.
Would anyone please help me in formating the datagrid (using tablestyles) when the datasource property is set to a collection.

P.S - I am unable to set the mappingname property in the tablestyle to collection.

If I remember correctly, you can't. TableStyles only work with DataSet and DataTable objects, not user collections. The MappingName property must match up with the TableName property of a DataSet or DataTable object, which your collection will not have.

FRACTAL FORMULA HELP REQUESTED

I am hoping to experiment with some simple fractal formulas in VB. I have some running ok, but some
I seem to be having trouble with. I am using VB 4.0, and am hoping someone out there in cybertopia
might be able to share insights or code snippets? I don't need anything fancy like complex graphic
rendering of the fractals, although if you are excited about this stuff and feel ambitious I'm happy to
check out any graphic stuff you might want to share.
Simply, all I'm looking for is simple number in and number out routines, i.e. you stick a number(s)
into the formula, set the iteration ceiling and then watch what ever numbers get pumped out, thats it really.
So we might have say two text boxes for inputs,
textbox1 = any number value, i.e. 129
textbox2 = any number value, i.e. 234
Then we feed those values into the fractals formula loop and for every interation the newly generated
values get dumped to some other textbox.

This one is probably one of the most interesting ones, it seems Barry Martin released a really old dos version called hopalong
and there are various exe takes on this floating about, but most of them don't work anymore because they are so old.
I had trouble with this one because I don't really understand the "sign" function, and the VB 4 sign function doesn't seem
to work in a way thats compatible with the formula, but then I'm just as likely ignorant of how to properly apply it.

For the Lorentz function, I'd like to get a really simple rudimentary one working, but I'm also curious about what would happen
if we had two parallel Lorentz functions working together, one accepting outputs from the other and then feeding back into the first one,
i.e.
Lorentz function (1) outputs cycle iteration values to Lorentz (2)
And then Lorentz(2) inputs to Lorent(1) and so on.....
By the way, does anyone know if a single Lorentz function can operate on more than the default # of inputs

Step One: Upgrade your version of Visual Basic. Visual Basic 2005 Express edition is free and accessible, vb 4 is seriously outdated, insufficient and unsupported for anything. VB.net 2005 is much more effective for any application, it is now much more than a glue and paddlepop sticks microsoft response to a more "understandable" interface and has become nearly, if not as, powerful as C.

Yeah, it's called a "menu item". You open your text file, then create items in your File menu from that. There is nothing to do with a "mouseover" event. What's the problem??
