I'm building a new website for a wireless network that i want to test the client's settings and security before it is allowed on to the proper network i was going to di this in PHP but because PHP can't do that stuff i am going to have to learn ASP.NET. I have never coded ASP.NET and i have only got two weeks to get this website working, any help with this would be greatly appreciated

What sort of help do you need? I would recommend search through the articles when you are stuck, maybe Google too, before posting any questions. If you still have problems understanding something, or can't find anything that helps, by all means post your question.
FYI, posting here works better when you have specific questions to ask, not something like "I don't know ASP.NET and I need help"...

Hello.
I am working on a project where users can automatically create personnel advices on the mainframe through a .NET Web Service.
My current problem is that I am trying to call a function multiple times to write out the advices to different folder, based on the color sent to the function. However, the program only writes the advices out to one folder. Can you help based on the code that I am attaching to the email?

The customer has an ASP .Net website. They also have Share Point running on their network and have created some documents there. They would like to be able to display some of these Share Point documents inside a page frame, or some other method, on their ASP site. End result, they want to display Share Point documents on their company website while maintaining the look and feel of the company website.

Hey all,
I have a simple user control with panel on it.
when I create this user control (manualy and not dragging it from solution explorer)
somehow all controls inside this user control are null...
In the user control I try to use the panel object in some method I've created but the panel object is null, so it throws an exception.
I'm sure I've done something wrong but, Do I need to create the inner controls of the user control also??
p.s - I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition.

Hello,
I have been stuck up with one issue, It would be very helpful if any one can help me on this.
I have to track the visitors coming to my website. I managed this by writing a HTTPModule and storing the details in a SQL Server database. When user visits each page, it will be inserted into database table. But when traffic increases to the site, this method became very slow. So I thought of storing the details in a flat file instead of SQL Server table. My doubts are
1 - How can I communicate with flat files in ASP.NET. Is it by using StreamReader and StreamWriter ?
2 - Is XML Files can be called as Flat Files ?
3 - When multiple users are browsing website at same time, is it possible to update the file contents ? (Because file may be in use)
4 - Will this method can boost the performance ?

Why not just enable IIS Logs and you can parse those as needed?
I don't think moving to a flat file is going to improve performance as much as you think. As you pointed out, you will probably run into file access constraints.

Yes that's what I am doing now. But that is having some drawbacks like it will log all the files including images. So it's tough to fetch required information from the whole list.
Moreover I need to track how much time user stayed on each page. So I think I need another alternate solution instead of IIS log.

Hi All, I've got some weird validation problems.
I've been using <asp:RequiredFieldValidator> in my web page, and up till now they've been working perfectly. However I recently migrated the webpage from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio 2005. The validators are no longer working.
Now I really like these validators, and I don't want to be foreced to use JavaScript or Server side validation.
Anybody have any clue as to what could be going on with the validators and how to fix them?

What error are you getting?
There is the RequiredFieldValidator in ASP.NET 2.0 too.
The validator from 1.1 "RequiredFiedlValidator 1.1" and RequiredFiedlValidator 2.0 looks the same.. so, there should be no problem..

I'm not getting any errors.
It's just immediately submitting the page.

Hello,
My app requier that user download some documents from the server ,I save these documents in a folder in the app named by the session Id,I want to clear this folder after user end his session or close his browser ,I've tried the session_onEnd event handlar but it does not work because it requiers that the session expire at first.I don't know how to do this task,please help.

The session will not end even though the browser is closed..You can put the code in the global.asa session_end event.. But you need to remember that this will be fired only if the session is stored in InProc and not if on ASP.Net state service or SqlServer.
Check your Web.config for the entry

I'm creating a customer "comments", multiline textbox and it works fine however when I store these comments in the database, they don't retain any of the formatting the user performed within their comments, such as line breaks.
For example, the following comment...:
"Hello,
How are you?"
...would be stored in the database like this:
"Hello, How are you?"
How can I correct this?

The line break is there - if you load it back into a multi-line text box you'll see it just the same as entered in the first place - but to displayt it on a web-page you need to replace all the line breaks with <br> tags... in VB this would be:
supposing your databse field is returned to a string s:
s.Replace(vbCrLf, "<br>")
Can't help you with the C# equivalent, but the carriage-return line-feed characters are Chr(13) adn Chr(10) respectively...

You can check the Response.headers to see if it sis running on IIS or not.and of course its version as well.
In ASP.Net this is available through Response.Headers variable
