While not all members have listed their birthdays, for the current 4,439,957 members, that would mean a daily average of 12,132 pages to list them all. Even at 100 people a page, that's still 122 pages. While I agree it was a nice feature when we had it, considering the size of our community, it's probably not worthwhile keeping it.

The list could be filtered to only people who've posted a message or article in the past month. That would probably filter it down to a reasonable number. Assuming that doing so won't hammer the db ofc.

Or at least for the member celebrating his birthday either at logon or during posting a message a friendly 'Happy Birthday Greeting' can be added.
I admit that most of us never logout from CP. So the question, the logon event is raised for most of us once only the cookie expires or we explicitly reinstall the Internet Explorer.
Any clues for the problem I have raised in the second paragraph?

Probably, placing the 'The Code Project discussion boards ' over the left pane or right pane (or combination of both) can provide a familiar navigation(like Windows XP - Windows Explorer )

Truly lovely. That should provide a more visually compelling experience for the user and as well a lesser learning curve for newbies, thus minimizing the haphazard wrong forum-posts and cross (and multi) posts at least to a significant percentage.

Hi,
I like it the way it is, it does not waste too much space on the horizontal scale,
allowing for a wide view of (articles and) discussion forums.
If it has to offer the suggested way, please make it user selectable.
One suggestion on the ordering and grouping of the discussion forums:
I would prefer them to be arranged more logically, something like
- programming topics
.NET Framework
each of the languages (and please separate VB and VB.NET, and rename the two
C++ ones including the terms managed and unmanaged)
ATL
COM
SQL/ADO.NET
- technology & tools
Windows Forms
Graphics
General Discussions
Visual Studio
Operating Systems
Vista
hardware
math & algo
- leisure
soapbox
lounge
This I hope would result in fewer wrong-forum-posts.

A slight page redesign may be needed to fit the elements into the screen real estate though. But I feel the effort would be worthy investigating considering the seamlessly familiar user experience and also the minimum learning curve involved for a newbie.
Weighing the pros of the proposal, I feel the suggestion to be an Active Contestant for the 'Feature Request' position. What do you say?

An error has occured on the Lounge page, ~11:30 BST. A post with several replies was just overwritten by a subsequent new message. Both from long time members so it is not apparently an attack of any kind. A little disconcerting though.

No. Nothing in Spam. In fact I've read the FAQ specifying common problems for not receiving newsletter. And after cross-checking all reasons I haven't found any applicable cause in my case.

The problem is probably due to the Daily Insider emails failing SPF checking when being received by email servers. My server luckily quarantines rather than refusing so I still get them. I sent an email about this last week but the problem remains.
Relevant headers are:

Something like what Yahoo DomainKey does. Isn't it?

Similar to DomainKeys. SPF is set up via a DNS entry for the outgoing mail server so that receiving mail servers can verify that the IP address from which the email is being sent is actually valid for the domain doing the sending. DomainKeys goes much further in that it can also verify that the email has not been altered in any way since being sent.

Yes I have checked my spam folders and blocked lists. Nothing there. As far as ISPs are concerned I access my gmail account from many places, so I dont think ISP is the issue. Can the issue be with g-mail servers. Should I try to change the articles e-mail account to some other e-mail provider.

Opera is clearly the best browser out there from many different perspectives, last time I tried it though CP was one of the only sites that had substantial problems with Opera.
If you're rebuilding anyway how about throwing a bone to Opera? It's free, it's technically superior, undisputably faster etc etc. All those good things that serious programmers have come to appreciate.
I also recommend that you ban the firefox browser due to the adblock feature which is no doubt costing CodeProject significant advertising revenue, or perhaps charge a subscription to FireFox users.
