Why do you need ActiveX control for uploading file?

I never use any ActiveX control in my project. I used to use only "File" html control. but the problem with this control is that it doesn't support multiple file uploads. it is very big problem when I was developing the Photo Gallery web application that need multiple photos uploads. What I did is that I make the "file" control (eg: fileCtl1 ) invisiable after the user selected the image for uploading. then, I dynamically create another "file"(eg: fileCtl2 ) control and show it to the user. When the user clicks "Upload" button, I take all "file" controls and save them to the server. (eg: fileCtl1.Save and fileCtl2.Save )..

If you don't wanna write the js code, you may probably use Flash control for that..

Because of Security reason. You can't do as you like to the client's browser.

relative problem

my default.aspx page was initially placed in new folder
i mean it's location according to relative path is
new folder/default.aspx
and defaut1.aspx was in the parent directory.
now if i have toi redirect to default1.aspx and currently i am in default.aspx then i used the following code
response.redirect("../default1.aspx")

now i am moving the default.aspx page to a inner new folder , and it's relative path becomes
new folder/new folder/default.aspx
now currently i am in default.aspx and want to navigate the user to default1.aspx which is curently in the parent directory(relative path is default1.aspx)
the what should be the code to navigate the user from default.aspx to default1.aspx

Hi Guru's

I'm not good at organizing my sessions and I always find my self scratching my head when ever I'm looking from session variable I created. Is there any technique / way that I could organize my sessions into one holder, hmm something like what Enum can do?

I always port my session variables this way

Session("memberID") = memberID
Session("memberName")= memberName
Session("memberEmail")= memberEmail

is there a way that I could group then and place the group to a session? like placing Enum into session, hmm but not that actually but the idea of placing it.

e.g.

Public Enum MemberInfo
memberID = 1
memberName = "Name"
end Enum

Session("memberInfo")= memberIfo

Your thinking is very near but Enum cannot work. You should create a Class. Storing your MemberInfo Class to session is:

Dim m_memberInfo As New MemberInfo
m_memberInfo.memberID=1
m_memberInfo.memberName="Name"
Session("memberInfo")=m_memberInfo

Retrieving data from Session is:
m_memberInfo=DirectCast(Session("memberInfo"))

Thanks, that would be a great idea.. hmm but are there any other object which I could explicitly group my session variable on the fly without creating another class?

Where possible, you should avoid putting large objects in session because they will eat up server memory. You also need to pay special attention if your web application is on a web farm.

Hi,
I'm trying to insert the urls into my database using FormView.

and when I'm inserting the url of embed video of YouTube, for examle, I get this kind of error:

A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (dynamic:100="<object width="425" ...")<="" b="">

Can anybody tell me why?

It is seing the html tags as evidence of a potential threat - to stop this and force it to allow them, add the page directive:

ValidateRequest="False"

Hi,

I am trying to learn how to host window component in ASP.NET.
I have a simple MyTestUserCtrl1.dll with a couple of text boxes in it. It was written in C# 2005 with class definition:

namespace MyTestUserCtrl1

public class MyTestUserCtrl1Cs1 : System.Windows.Forms.UserControl

...
... }
...
}

The dll works fine hosted by a window form.
When I try host this dll using aspx:

the control can not be displayed. looks like IE can find the control but refuses to display it(tool tips says "Click to activate and use this control).I have checked the virtual directory is set to script only. Any thoughts?

Hi,
I have defined the User control which containg one label and textbox.
<asp:label id="”xx”" …="">
<asp:textbox id="”name”" runat="”server”..">
In the user control class I am defining like this:
Class us: System.Web.UI.UserControl

I am using that user control in another aspx page. In which I placed the the above User control in a Wizard control.
<asp:wizard ..="">
<tt.name id="”ci”"> declaring usercontrol inside wizard.

From this aspx I am trying to set the value for the name textbox which is in User control when the Wizard Finish button is clicked.
Like this:

}
But this event is not firing when I remove the User control from the Wizard this event is firing.
And when I write the Page_load of aspx page

If I put like this in the PageLoad’s !ispostback then wizrd finish event is workng.
Withoyt setting the ci.setname in the Page_load I need to set only in the finish button click.
How to do this?

I am trying to use a client side confirm dialog box. I have a generic sub (borrowed from an article by Jim Stall) that successfully generates the client side Yes/No dialog box. According to the forums and docs I've read, a postback should only occur if the user clicks OK. This means my server code should only needs to check if OK was pressed.

The behavior I'm finding is that a postback occurs regardless of whether the user clicks OK or Cancel. This means I can't detect what was selected. Can someone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

Here's the server side code:

The button declaration code:
