data fetch problem

hi all
please tell me what is the problem with
this line of code
aqp ="SELECT id from login WHERE user= \'" + user + "\'" ;

as i connect vc++(mfc) with mysql 6.0
and the result from SELECT id from login WHERE user= \'" + user + "\' does not store
in aqp
i use debugger and aqp does not show any data
so this application gives exception at this line as it will store null value

Are you looking at aqp before or after the assignment?

What does the stack trace look like at the time of the exception? Is user valid?

I want to add small images horizontally in ListBox. I add images in
vertical manner,but my requirement is to add them in horizontal manner.So any body have some hint related to it then plz send me.

Listbox is not the ideal control for such a purpose. Use CListCtrl.

CListCtrl is flexible than to CListBox and you have control to that control.

I'd like to record more than 10000 records from serial port. they are from 30 signals, the software will record all the data into a data file and choose 8 signals to display in a chart in real time. how to define the data struct and store them in memory?

Usually I prefer STL containers such as vector, anyway it also depends on the existing (if already exists) overall program design: for instance, if you've already choosen MFC containers for other purposes than continue to use them.

Whichever you use make sure you use the reserve function or an equivalent to grow your array in really big chunks not one element at a time. Growing large data structures is really slow even with stl and you want to avoid it if you need anything close to real time performance.

Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

I've actually done some testing with STL and I didn't find 10000 records to be that bad at all (I ran tests with 1 million string records in order to get reasonable timing -- i.e. between 15 secs to 1 minute).

Yep, you clearly have some reasonable harware behind that and STL is very good in straight allocation tests. It mostly does preallocating big lumps for you but not in every case. Never the less I'd probably still use a chain of large fixed size buffers for the sort of thing suggested. Although STL tends to be very good it is always trying to be all things to all people and if you do anything unexpected with it, it can get nasty. Also it is relying on the underlying Windows heap allocator and if that suffers fragmentation then even stl performance will go Dead | X|

. Not an easy problem to avoid without going to .NET of course. In the end it's each to his own and use whatever enables you to write the best code Smile | :)

if you don't require the Random Access on data, then stl::list is much faster than stl::vector
