Hi,
I am developing an application using vb.net. it generates an exe for running the project we have to execute that exe properly.My problem is that now i want that a particular user can use my exe for one month only after that it will show an message that you have to install again that exe. so i want some help for implementing that in vb.net. how can i do that.

To make things simple, a registry key is the way to go. It must be encrypted in a decryptable way. Invent your own cryptography algorythm, this way not everyone can figure out what the encryption means. Do NOT give the key a name that describes the program, or simply give a number as the key's name.

Hi guys and Gals Im new to this so here goes, I already have a site of my own www.ukcoldwar.org.uk This I built myself on frontpage, each page is indivdually built which when wanting to change logo's etc makes it very hard....
So my question is this. I want to build a new site where the hearder anf ooter are standard and the content changes.... I have been looking round the site and am totally lost.. Can any one point me in the right direction ??

Which tool do you want to use developing your website... Are you still using frontpage or do you have Visual Studio or something?

I don't think Implementing licencing for webapplications is not an easy job. Make me clear with this
1. How you will give your application ? Fully compiled, or with source code
2. Where users host it ? on their server or your server space ?
One Idea to implement this is by WebServices. Your webapplication should be able to send request to a remote webservice resides on your server. This webservice should check whether the user is authorized to use the application.

Yes, i know that it will implement with Webservices. but i not well familiar with webservices, i have never use webservices.
If u have some other idea's to provide this application to customer with licensing then please let me know....

Optimum solution would be using webservices. It is very simple to create a WebService than creating entire ASP.NET website. You have to call the webservice method which validates the licence information on each page load. So let's frame it out like this
PageLoad() -> CheckValidLicence() -> [ WebService ] -> WebMethodLicenceValidate(UserId)
In WebMethodLicenceValidate() function you need to check the requested user having permission to continue using the product. Send a value back to the page and check this value on the page load. You can navigate user to Licence expired page if webservice returns no access message. For more information on Creating and Consuming webservices please read this[^] excellent article by Scott Mitchel.

I have produced a table which allows me to select the current user or delete the user from the table
But i am unsure how to handle both events, i have the delete working, but when i try to run the select method, it will run both the delete and select methods, how do I handle these correctly my asp code is as follows

Yes it will fire same ItemCommand event. You need to check the CommandName inside this event. Do like
if e.CommandName = "Delete"

hi,
when ur doing any datagrid operation rowdatabound, itemdatabound, and if ur select then selectedindex changing fires
so if u r doing something like delete , update in itemdatabound event then
better to check first which operation u r performing,
how to check this,
if ur using templates for delete column then the button in that template has property CommandName give any name(Delete) & check the same at itemdatabound event
if ur not using templates then bydefault its command name is "Delete" for Delete Button

I suggest you to query DB and get result for the indicated date. Get results to a DataSet. Now set report source as this DataSet.

I want to send mail and read mail for from and subject fields from
SMTP,Exchange server and lotus note in application, anybody have any idea
about this ....any site where i can find solution...i serached alot but not
find any good solution...

Sending mail can be done very easily by using System.Net.Mail.
Receiving mails is a little bit complicated but not so much. You can use Outlook dll or OpenStmp opensource framework for that.

I have some experienced with Microsoft Exchange Server. I think I used outlook dll or Opensmtp in that project.. but no idea about Lotus.
