hey everyone!
i am working on this code where in i need to take the option selected in the drop down combobox by the end user and then use it to do some other task. The options to be shown in the drop down combo box are provided by the code and arent't same for everytime. I use AddString to add options to the combo box.
Can anybody help me out with this? how do i get the text of the option selected?
any help will be greatly appreciated!

You may use CB_GETCURSEL messsage to retrieve the selected item index and then CB_GETLBTEXT message (specifying the retrieved index as wParam) to finally retrieve selected item text.
(MFC provides CComboBox methods GetCurSel and GetLBText to perform the same tasks).
BTW, IMHO CBS_DROPDOWNLIST style is more appropriate for your kind of combo. If you use CBS_DROPDOWNLIST style then you can retrieve current selection text via WM_GETTEXT message.

thanks a lot man. it did help me.
now moving on with the code. now the next task is updating the list box. i have a string wherein there r some lines and i need to update it to a listbox. the addstring function does that but the problem is that it displays all the lines in a single line with the next line indicated by a square box. can u tell me how can i update the listbox so that each line is represented in a new line.
any help will b greatly appreciated[ ]

I've been trying to set the tab order but every single item on my dialog is being included. I try right clicking the items to turn off "tab stop" in the properties, but it is already unchecked for some of these items!! is there somewhere else I should be turning it off?

in resource editor, open your dialog/frame and select the controls you want to remove the tab stop... and check their property "Tab Stop"

Hi,
I am a visual c++ beginner and have problems simply adding a reference to a library. when I click on Project>Properties>Common Properties>References>Add New Reference the list is completely empty and even when I add paths, where the libraries I want to use are stored, the References list is still empty. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I dont get any error. Its just that the list is empty and therefore I cannot add and choose any libraries. I have created only one project so its on the current one.
I have implemented following example

and I cannot add the library because it is not found  With VB on the other hand I dont have any problems adding references.

First, please don't throw down any more "With VB" stuff or this will end badly.

That example is for a "Native" project. If you want a "Mixed Mode" project you have to turn on the CLR setting in the project. After that the .NET assemblies will be found in the Add References window.

you seem to have a lack of database knowledges.
you create a DB once, otherwise, you'll loose everything you previously put in it.
moreover, did you know that google was your friend ?
you asked for a too generic question. dig a little more by yourself, then ask for a specific question.

i know it.. but its my requirement tht if im making some project 4 a client...but if i hav to deal with diffrent clients n i hav to make always new database 4 a new client..then how i hav to make it...i m doing a s/w in which i hav to make a exe 4 our client...in which as i run exe it by should default make an databse if nt present n then do all...plz help me...i hav searched a lot...but i need something in mfc or c++

In which i have to make a exe in which when ever i run tht exe on client side and if at client site computer if i run this exe then if there is no database then code should make a database n then create tables n all...plzzzzzzzz help me...i need to submit this part by 1hr..
