I don't know about the DAAB, but for .NET data providers in general, set the parameter's Direction property to ParameterDirection.ReturnValue. This property is a member of the IDataParameter interface.
The actual name of the return value parameter is unimportant, but it must be the first parameter in the parameters collection.

Hi all,
I am currently doing a SPC (Statiscal Process Control) software. It is related to Vision Inspection Machine. The software is doing using VC 6 MFC, and database using Microsoft Access.
I am in the final stage of the software development. Now i am facing the problem when i try to retrieve data from the table. The data was extremly huge (about 150k row for a table in a single day, it continue append) and make my software extremely slow when i display all my graph. As is keep track of each of every data that have been inspected by the machine.
At first, i get all needed data using for loop, then i put some comparison in it. If it fullfill then it will use ADO to send query to access. The processing time was horrible. Then i find out that if i retrieve the whole junk of data for the coloum i needed in a CStringArray, then only i compare the CStringArray in the for loop. The time was shorten, it take about 5 to 10 second.
My question is, am i doing the right way of getting data ? Is there any faster method ? Or is this the limitation if Microsoft Access ? Please help.

again n again firing query for retrieval increases too much communication cost so it's not a good idea for retrieving data.
Suggestion 1:
create a stored procedure do all your work there and return the final result
Suggestion 2:
make a dynamic query or condition for your query and fire at once
Hope it'll help in improving performance of your data retrieving procedure

I have SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition in the DVD.I have Windows XP SP2 operating system in my PC.But i am unable to install the SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition in my PC.Why?.Please anybody give the solution for this.
And also what edition is suitable for the Windows XP Sp2 System.

The solution is to install it on a Server edition of Windows.
SQL Server Enterprise (and Standard) is not designed to run on desktop editions of Windows (Home and Professional).
If you want to run SQL Server on Windows XP then use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

Enterprise Edition is not designed to run on Windows XP. If you have somehow managed to install it on Windows XP then you are breaking the license agreement.

I rather suspect that you've installed the Developer edition. Enterprise edition checks to see if the system is a server or not - if you're not running a server OS then it will fail to install. The only way to get round this is through registry hacks which would invalidate your XP licence.

I think you need to sort them like

order by catname <br />

hi ,
ok i thought it was as simple as putting the path to the db into AttahDbFileName , but it does'nt work.
I get "<path+database> is on a network path and this is not supported"
I tried messing with the surface area cfg , no change. Could someone give me a pointer as to what i have to do to add a database that is on a network??
Also , The "server" computer that does have the database has SQLSERVER 05 exp. installed. But "client" computer that tries to connect to this "server" also has SQLSERVER 05 exp. installed , so maybe its using the wrong instance of the service?
My connection string looks like this:
"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=\\Gidlaptop\data (e)\Gid\My Creations\Hotel Management Studio\HotelManager.Core\bin\Debug \DataServices\HTLDATA.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True";
[using C under .NET 2.0]

Thank you! for the reply, but because of my ms access background i did'nt realize how i need to connect to a database that is on a locally connected computer. I did'nt want to use the DB from a UNC path , i just wanted to connect to it! 
I thought , naively  , i could just use attachDbFile and specify the UNC location. But it seems i had to "Attach" the database on the "server" first[^]
Then i was told to use either one of these connection strings:
Data Source=myServerAddress;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;User Id=myUsername; Password=myPassword; OR
Data Source=myServerAddress;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;Integrated Security=SSPI;
(Where myDataBase is the name i used when i "Attached" the database.)
Also, i needed to allow remote connections.[^].(Dont forget to enable the sql browser service, its off by default)
I hope this helps someone else , if they had the same mis understading i had!

I have table and having Full text catalog implemented. I want to drop the Full text catalog by using script (Tsql) and then again generate the same Full text catalog on the same table.
I can drop the table Full text catalog successfully but when I execute the script to recreate the Full text catalog it through the following error.
## "File 'sysft_adm_groups_full_text_new1' cannot be reused until after the next BACKUP LOG operation."
Below are the script that I am using to recreate.
CREATE FULLTEXT CATALOG [adm_Test_full_text]
IN PATH N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.5\MSSQL\FTData'
