We have an asp.net(Framework 1.1,VB.NET) application hosted on the developer PC itself.
Windows XP Professional
512 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ
We built the project in release mode and the web.config also having debug mode set to false
In one screen, around 420 HTML Controls are built with some styles(based upon some validations). The validataions goes into a loop calling methods at multiple levels. Even for a single user(I mean localhost), the performance of the processor(CPU Usage) goes to 100% and comes down.
What are the things that need to be checked and what are the measures we can take
I searched google and got many links. I think I can get better answers from this forum

I guess 420 HTML Controls means 420 Server Controls (label, datagrid, button etc) In that case you should really take a look at caching! Rendering 420 Server controls uses cpu! Split the page in several usercontrols if you need to partial cache tha page.
Maybe you could post some code?

HI
There are many causes that leads to high memory usage and CPU conspumtion.
First of all it depends on your approach .
Do we need to have server side validation even we can do it at client side ?
You are using 420 html controls in one page ? i think you should divide them by making different controls .......
Can you tell What exatly are you doing ? Any bussiness logic ?
Are you using COM component ?
Are you closing all the instances ?

Anytime I hear 100% cpu utilization I think loop problem. Often infinite loop. I would remove your looping validation and see if the CPU utilization goes down. If it does then you know your validation loop is the problem.

Hi, i need to send the selected date back to the parent form..i tried many ways...one of them is
in selection_change event of calender, i have :

I would guess you have a javascript problem. Most likely the control name you are passing it is not the actual control name. You would need to put the Control.ClientID into the querystring for the control name to be correct. So I would guess you get a javascript error and never make it to the window.close
You can debug the javascript. Let me know if you want to know how to do that.

Go to Tools then internet options.
Go the the advanced tab
Un check disable script debugging.
Then in the browser when the app is running you can go to view script debugger.
That will open into your source code if you are running the web site in debug mode with visual studio.

I have a main page. This main page contains a usercontrol. This usercontrol has another user control which contains a textbox. The text box value is set in a property.
I want the property name with the value from the main page. How can i get it?

Actually on clicking the edit link i am not getting the previous values in the textboxes . so how it is to be done . i am not doing the way it is done in this article. i am taking my database separately.when i click edit i get textboxes but i get them empty.

Sorry man... as I dont know what are you doing? What is your code to process the edit buton click? Do you populate data into those textboxes in this handler or not?.....Cannot help you out till having your code...

You can do that by changing the code in html view.
for example u have a column with name "Column0" in your grid
u want to see text in textbox on it's edit and insert mode
for that just go in your html view and in edittemplatecolumn tag with search the text property of your textbox and change it

Hi All...
I have a datagrid with values bound to it..I have two columns in the datagrid.The first column is the name field and the second column is age field..Now i need to higlight the highest age which is found in the datagrid..I want to differentiate it from other rows by giving some color differences in the datagrid...
Someone help in this regard....

Here is the idea...IMO
- You find the highest age from data...
- In the ItemDataBound event, you get the value of the second cell and compare this one with the highest one. If equal, change background color for this cell or whole row...that's up to you
