Hi,
I hope to be in the right forum with this question:
I would like to create a webservice method, that returns the username of the user that executes its assembly. I hope to be clear here. Typically it would be the ASPNET user that is returned, but i want to get the exact user.
Is this possible? And if so ... what do i have to do ?

Hi,
Since the calling of the function in web reference is done by the asp.net user, you can't get the exact user. But you can get it in the webform using the code
Request.LogonUserIdentity.Name give the exact user who is accessing the page.
Request.LogonUserIdentity give the system.security.principal.windowsidentity class object.

Hello,
I am getting a strange problem in my projects (ASP.NET/C#), whenever I try to put the classes into a namespace, an error is generated saying that it cannot resolve the symbol i.e.
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MyPage.aspx.cs" Inherits="MyPage" %>
works fine, but
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MyPage.aspx.cs" Inherits="MyNamespace.MyPage" %>
doesn't! any ideas why this might be happening?

Code file contains the Code Behind file name for your aspx page
And in the Inherits property you should give full name of your code behind class
including the namespace that you have for your project i think you are working in VS 2005 and you added a namespace for your application

That i can't say where have you gone wrong
Did you give same namespace for all classes in the application or
can you post your namespace and class name

Yes, it's like (NOTE: I am typing it by hand (as the code is not in my laptop right now), so please ignore any syntax errors )

and I trying to access it with inherits="LSW.SignUp" which throws unresolved symbol error.
strangely enough, as soon as I remove the namespace (from both the class and the inherits attribute), the code starts to work...

Yes it happenes many times in 2005 you have partial class and class will not put in any namespace by default

Again i alsp don't have answer to this but when i added namspace in my application it is rumming fine although i faced same problem few months before . No sooner did i got the answer i will let yoy know if you have do the same

i want to know 'how the page request fetch the data exactly from server only.
EX: i am typing in URL bar like "www.yahoo.com" then it will fetch the data from exactly from yahoo server only.no interaction with other servers. how it possible.

there is something called domain naming concept, explore that!

Request will first reach in DNS server and fetch the IP for yahoo.com and will be send back to browser. Browser will give a request to this IP and server will give the rendered HTML back to browser. Browser will display this

You got to set the path xpath so that only that node (empl) is selected, then using a loop you could retrieve all the nodes in that emp node.
you can select the entry node and give node.childnodes[i].innertext....
you can find simple examples for xpath in w3schools!!

What is the size of the xml file if it is not very large then use XmlDocument object to read the xml file .
If file is large and you don't want to update it i.e only have to retrive the data and performance is an issue then use XmlReader to read the file as
you can use this code as reference for it

Hallo,
i have some questions about transforming a DataSet to HTML output. So i have a WebService which returns me a DataSet(it comes from a Access database). After that i create ASP.NET Web App and i'm calling the Web Sevice:

After that i have a DropDownList to filter the data from the Web Service and a Load Button. Then i expect a HTML page for output.
Here is the Code:

If it's just a table you're outputting, then is there any reason you can't just bind the dataset to a gridview?

Thank you for the answer  i know that if i use a DataGrid it will be a lot of easier for me but my task is to use a HTML output. Actually i found a mistake at my xsl code - not vaule-of it should be value-of...but now when i hit the load button nothing happens...the html page doesnt appeat but when i browse it from the solution explorer i see the stylesheet is accepted.
