I am trying to update a field in a sql database from an asp form but i am getting the following error message when submiting update:
Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80040E37)
Invalid object name 'request.form'.

Making a bunch of assumptions, but try changing above line to this:
MySQL1="UPDATE " & strTable & " SET categoryName = '" & request("categoryName") & "' Where " & strKey & " = " & which

Does it have to be VBA programming? You can't just use the built in excel stuff to pull it through the user interface?

yes it has to be done in VBA programming.
We already written code, for storing data from excel sheet to Access database.But our final requirement is to get data from access database and display it in Excel sheet(i.e., result page).
Please do the needful, as soon as possible.

Copy the HTML and paste it into the aspx page replacing the existing HTML tags. Be sure to keep the page declaration at the top and add an <asp:form> tag before you use any controls.

How do I detect whether or not javascript is active via the use of the code behind.

The code behind runs on the server so you'll probably find it difficult (read: impossible) to detect client-side capabilities.
|
|
|
|
|
The only way to detect if Javascript is available is by using Javascript.
Add a Javascript to the page that does something, for example navigate to a different page. If that doesn't happen, then Javascript is not available.

There is an Javascript property which tells you whether the Requestor's browser is Javascript compatible.
Not sure how accurate it is tho.

That value is based on the user agent string that the browser sends, and it only reflects if the browser is capable of Javascript, not if it's actually enabled.

Hi Guys I am trying to generate a random footnote everytime a page inside my site is loaded.
Trouble is my randomiser keeps staying with one index basically not doing anything

You are creating a new Random object and feeds it the same random seed every time, so it will produce the same number sequence every time. Just don't supply any seed at all, and it will create a seed from the system timer.

Or to generate a truly uniuque number I can use the following random declaration
