easy GUI ??

Fairly experienced programmer .... but with no windows GUI experience.

So I am looking for a nice easy way to create a new GUI for a program that will be redistributed.

It's easy enough to stick with the stuff provided with VC++ and .NET 2.0, but fairly limited that way (instead of sliders, I want knobs for example ... and I need to add little "volume indicators" like you see on a stereo system .... I don't think this is easily accomplished with VC++).

I hear that .NET 3.0 changes GUI design drastically by incorporating XML usage ... does anyone have good experience with this?

Or does anyone know of some other program out there that can be used to easily create a professional windows GUI ??

Instead of

#include<memory.h>

put:

#include<memory>

and then prepend auto_ptr with std::

In your initial post, you had questioned whether auto_ptr would work with MFC. Fair enough, but where's your MFC code?

Yeah because auto_ptr is different from everything else where you don't need to know what you are doing. Big Grin | :-D

Let's just say that auto_ptr is less intuitive than most of the C++ Standard Library - look at its copy constructor.

Hello, I have a program developed in Visual Studio 2003 (MFC) and I want to know if there's any program I can run on my exe-file to see what system requirements and OS requirements my program has?
It seems a bit time-consuming to manually test the program on different computers with different OS, RAM, processors, etc.

You're supposed to know these things ahead of time. The APIs you use will govern the OS; any memory that is allocated will tell you how much RAM is required; coding for a multiprocessor machine is not done by accident.

i am being assigned work to design a s/w which can convert the MP3 format to WAVE and vice versa.
so can anybody tell how to go forward with this project.
is there any c or c++ API which can interact with PCM data from sound card?

its not enough just to added a tool bar in the resource.

you must create a tool bar.Check the sample code below.

m_toolBar.CreateEx( this, TBSTYLE_FLAT|TBSTYLE_TOOLTIPS );
m_toolBar.LoadToolBar( IDR_TOOLBAR1 );
RepositionBars( AFX_IDW_CONTROLBAR_FIRST, AFX_IDW_CONTROLBAR_LAST,0, reposDefault,0, CRect(10,0, 300, 50 ));

N.B create the m_toolBar as the member variable of the dialog class

Which sounds rather confusing in the manner in which you present it. For MFC, you have to add a toolbar resource as well as create a CToolbar object (which is what m_toolBar is).
