Hello
I started a little web project, where the users can register and make their own sites.
Now i want, that the User can access his personal site directly over the path http://xy/[Username] like many other sites. For example http://www.myspace.com/userX
But I don't know how to make that dynamic? Sure there is a possibility without create a directory, create a virtual directory and put a index file into it, for each user.
Probably it has not a lot to do with c# (I program into ASP.NET with c#). I'm sure someone here can help me?

Hi there
I want to use a session variable to store the user_id, and then redirect to another page. the problem is, that when i get to the redirected page, in the page load event, the session variable is not there (when put onto a textbox). only when the page is refresed (F5), can i view the user_ID on the textbox.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

hi,
i have a javascript function which performs some operation. on completion i want to return an array and this array should be assigned to a session!!!
lets say iam calling this javascript function by using the onclick event of a html button how shall i proceed???
this func1 should return an array and this shld be assigned to a session is this possible???

It's simpe to return an array from a js function, just use the return keyword!
Unfortunately, it's impossible to directly set session using client scripting - you'd have to implement some custom code to do so

Hi folks
This is my first ever question on this site! Hope I get an answer.
Visual Studio 2005. ASP.Net web application (VB).
I have 2 Web User controls on a page. The top control has an AjaxCalendarExtender on it. When the page is displayed (run-time) and I click on the image to display the calendar, only part of the calendar is displayed. The bottom half is hidden / cut off by the web user control underneath it. i.e. the calendar doesn’t overlap the bottom control.
I also have a drop down on the top control, and this overlaps the bottom control no problem.
I have no Divs or Spans in either of my web user controls' HTML.
Any ideas? Obviously I could make the top control larger so it fits, but that leaves an unacceptably ugly gap between the 2 controls.
Any thoughts appreciated…

You could try giving your calendar div/calendar control a larger z-index in the sytles.
The drop down list overlaps because it doesn't use z-index in it's display...

That's done the trick. I added this to the control & it seems to have worked.

Some code would help, and what browser this problem appears in. I've have had this same problem with IE and it came down to an animation extender with an OpacityAction. This was setting a filter: CSS property, check you don't have that in the parent elements style anywhere. Could also be caused by the overflow property, or with position:absolute or fixed. Where the elements appear in the markup and their z-index properties can also have an effect on how they are painted in the browser.
Theres been a myriad of bugs found in the Calendar extender, most of them still not 100% fixed. Try the latest control toolkit version and see if that helps.

Hello,
We have created activex for reading emails from MS outlook and send as function output to aspx web base application. Its working fine for most of the users but for few users we are getting problem.
Issue is as below mentioned
We are reading from email id. For few users its coming right e.g. xyz@yourdomain.com but for few users its putting some long path /O=xyz corporation/ou=conway/cn=RECIPIENTS/CN=NENZMI
Can anyone know what is the wrong and how we can rectify.

hi all
i m working into GridView and DetailView. In my GridView there r two Command Button at [0]index is Delete and [1]index is Edit. whn i click the Edit Button thn My DetailView Move on to Update mode and detail view controls are fill by the GridView Data. after tht i press the Enter key in my text box the Delete button Message pop up which is "Are u sure to delete this record?" i m using the objectdatasourc to bind the both of gridview and detailview.
so i want to prevent abut to show this Message popup in UpdateMode. The message Box is generted thru following code at gridview_rowCreated

If I understand well, your delete button is getting the focus automatically after clicking the edit button. So when you press enter its onclick function is get fired. You can do two things:
1. disable the delete button in updat mode.
2. catch the key press event (document.onkeypress), check the event.keyCode (13 is for enter key), set the flag (if(event.keyCode == 13) {enterPressed=true}else{enterPressed=false}), now in onclick of delete button check if enterpressed then return false, otherwise show the confirm message.

I have a registration form i fill the details and then i save it.Then i am transfered to the new page where it says registered succesfully.But when i click the back button i get the registration form with all the information in the respective textboxes. I want that all the information should reset when i go back.

One option is block the back button using javascript. Next is set browsers cachebality none.

There are various ways that you can try and stop this behaviour but bottom line is you can't 100% gaurantee control over the client, its just not possible (and bad practice anyway - breaking back button behaviour can confuse users). Whatever problem this is causing you I suggest you find another way round it on the server.

i am unable to pass querystring with url.
Actually i have taken an hyperlink in datalist and on the click event of dat hyperlink i want to send an id along with url i am using this :

but i am getting errors like server tag not formed well
