hey ! u know i hv tried with safe mode with networking ----still no go

firewall is also disbled....
i havent touched registry settings yet... can it be an issue... Confused | :confused:

i m not very techy about registry sort of thing .. if u find it registry issue .. let me know in bit detail... i m not in hurrry Sleepy | :zzz:

The registry is not going to be the issue. That's where the settings for IE are stored.

I don't have the time to research your issue. There's not enough information to go on. That's on your shoulders.

Your DNS is the problem. Change your DNS servers. Open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL then copy and paste the output here. I don't need your IP/SUBNET/GATEWAY just your DNS servers.

Hi,

I am trying to access(read) the internal registers of a SM Bus Device (a
chip in the motherboard, connected as Slave to SM Bus). I am trying to
access this chip over ICH6 's (I/O Controller Hub) SMBus Controller
(D31:F3). I am able to get the correct address of the SM Bus Base Address
Register (D31:F3, Offset:20).

I know the default SMBus Address of the Device is 0x2E.
I would like to know what are the next steps to be followed to be able to
read the internal registers (all are 8-bits) within the SMBus Slave Device.
also, can anyone let me know if any sample code is available for this?

I know that each device has vendor IDs & product IDs....
Where can i get those IDs of all the USB devices...

Look at USB view, it gets this info, probably through a driver though.

I have a webcam with built in lights one of those fancy light sensors. IE if it's too dark the lights will come on. But it's really annoying.

If I power off my machine and turn the room's light off, the webcams light fires up. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to physically pull the USB cord from the back of the machine. I'm just wondering if there is any way I can configure it not to do this?

I don't want the webcam to recieve any power while the machine is off.

You have to cut off the power supply to your machine.
Some power supply adaptors are equipped with Power On/Off buttons.

How to do that is mob specific so you'll need to look at your docs. The feature will be called something like wake on USB, or wake on keyboard/mouse. What it does is provide power to the ports from the standby rail when the main power is off. Normally this is used to let the mouse/keyboard turn the PC on but will power anything that's connected. Depending on your board it's either a bios or jumper setting and is generally set for each pair of ports independently.

hi frnds,
i'm havin a net connection at home.. initially it was ok.. now there is a break up of connection frequently that i have to restart each time to get new connections.. please do reply wat can be done..

Granted that You haven't done anything wrong with your hardware/software You should call to your internet provider in order to solve the problem

not a big deal....
this is the case with intermittent surf/sync .
if u r using dsl internet , u should check with your filters or splitters, u should also check your telephone instrument or other instruments like fax machine or surge protector , connected with same dsl line... if possible try to disconnect all the other things exept computer and modem....restart modem and computer.....beleave me most of the time it works.... Smile | :)

it shows one of your instrument is cause of static in line and hence the prolem ... Sigh | :sigh:

if still no go...
contact with your ISP..... Confused | :confused:

one more thing ... ru using router(wired/wireless) in between modem and computer....if it so thing may be different.... Rose | [Rose]

hi,

I want to read a memory location of system
Actually i hav one h/w monitor ic acting as a slave to my cpu(master). this ic measures cpu temp,fan speed,voltage etc.
i have an address 0x2e at which it is connected.
i2c is used for communication. can anyone pls let me know how do i read the data read by this h/w monitor ic.
how should i find out which memory location to read?

Windows blocks access to hardware I/O ports, and the usual languages used for application programming don't include commands to accomplish this. In the modern systems this is done by a driver, which handles all the low level hardware stuff and exposes the results to Windows for an application to use. Check MSDN for the Windows DDK, if it's still available. If you're up to the challenge you can write your own. Personally, I gave up being that smart years ago... Big Grin | :-D

my coworker and I are having similar problems. He recently bought a USB wireless device (linksys) and was trying to connect to the Net in his house.

Although it looks like he is connected (IP address and signal strenght look good), he cannot get onto the Net. His home-base station is running XP. His laptop is running Win2000. He has tried another XP with success.

Likewise, I have problems from time-time accessing Wi-Fi at public hotspots. I have a Belkin 802.11b network card. I am running an old Win98SE. Majority of time I can connect. But sometimes, I get good IP and signal, but same inability to access the Net (this is random and usually a Restart/several tries resolves this.)

Is there some setting or configuration we should be looking into? Default (hard code) IP addresses?

If your colleague is running his router in the default Wi-Fi configuration, he might want to try using a different channel and disabling all manufacturer-specific "enhancements".

Otherwise, I just would not trust the signal quality indicator in either Windows or the packaged software:

I had the exact same problem. My connection would stall from time to time, throughput was unacceptable, connection broke several times. I constantly had an indicated "excellent" signal quality. Moving the AP a few meters solved that problem. A friend of mine came over with some quality measuring equipment: The phone base station was interferring with my connection.

yuuuuhoooo ,
another LINKSYS isssue . i think sebastian had picked up very goood point about channel...most of the time it shoud work ...but just in case if no go ... follow these steps :
open LINKSYS set up page
in wireless tab---
1)put the channel as 11
2)change ssid---make it as simple as u can ---abcdef
3)disable the wireless security
go to advance wireless settings :
4)make becon interval as 100
5)RTS : 2304
6)fragmentation :2304
7)DTIM : if 1 select 3 , if 3 select 1
8)Frame Burst: Enable

make sure every time u make any changes in any page ---click on save settings

if its the router settings issue -- yr problem is solved
if still no go --- we need to upgrade the firmware for the router from LINKSYS site.... Rose | [Rose]
