I want to show only some collumns from a XML file.
I have 3 collums: IDName - Name - Age
I want that the datagrid show only Name
I tried:
dataGrid1.DataSource = ds.Tables[1].Columns["Name"];
but it doesn´t work... can you help me?

Use a DataGridView and set the DataGridViewColumn.Visible property to false for the particular columns in the Columns collection.

Hi
I have created a control the is transparent. When this is placed a normal form with a picture it works fine, but when it is on a control container where I draw the background as a gradient using the drawing tool, the transparency only shows the background colour of the control, and doesnt work over the image/gradient that i've drawn.
How do I get the background to draw first, or how do I get the control to look at what is painted on its container.

In visual studio 2005 within an asp.net project you can bring up the style builder by placing an html input control on a web page and going to style in the property grid. I would like to use this editor in a windows C# project on my property grid.
How do I make the following show that editor in my class that is the "SelectedObject" in the property grid?

Hmm. The property type is string, so the property grid should just show an area where you can enter a string. But if you want to specify a specific editor, look up [EditorAttribute]. Hope that helps!

I just made a fix that I think may help. It still doesn't work but it load an Object Collection Editor....

What you are looking for is the Editor attribute as this lets you specify which editor is used to change the value of a property. Since all editors should be derived from the UITypeEditor, you should be able to find the name of the one you're looking for by starting from the MSDN topic of the UITypeEditor.

Mmh, that's really weird. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that you're trying to achieve this in a windows application project.

Hi,
I'm trying to build and test a'n addin for VS2005, but none of them, also downloaded source code (that ofcours should work), doesn't appear in my addin manager, none of them our visible in the tools menu..
Can anyone give me some more info about where to place the files, what to add in the registry ?
it also seems the wizard doesn't make a setup for the addin and yes in the articles written by other developers it seems to be created automatically.
does it depends on the VS version ? i work with the VS2005 Pro.

Hi everybody
I'm creating my own trackBar control.
Basically, I need to draw a rectangle that has four rounded corners.
When I reach to the point in the rectangle filling that I need to draw a rounded edge and make sure that it will be filled, how can I do it?

GraphicsPath.CloseFigure() did it for me.
Example (rounded rect):
GraphicsPath path=new System.Drawing.Drawing2D.GraphicsPath();
path.AddArc(arc, 180, 90);
arc.X=baseRect.Right-diameter;
path.AddArc(arc, 270, 90);
arc.Y=baseRect.Bottom-diameter;
path.AddArc(arc, 0, 90);
arc.X=baseRect.Left;
path.AddArc(arc, 90, 90);
path.CloseFigure();
and now you can do Graphics.DrawPath or FillPath.

I am developing an application that will log messages coming from n-number of clients. we cannot predict the number of clients. The application is being developed using .Net Remoting. whenever, i tries to run 3-4 clients, memory goes increasing of server for each addition of client. that means on every addition of client server memory and CPU usage increases. How can i control the increase of memory and CPU usage.
The logs are coming at a very fast rate.

Not sure you can with remoting. If you can it would likely involve much more development than usual for using Remoting. Given your problem domain (logging) and your memory usage concern, perhaps using Message Queues would be a better approach?

I need to read a file with Russian words to an array. But instead I get a lot of empty lines. I tried the sample code from MSDN (below) to find the problem. The result was the same - just empty lines.

Will you be so kind to help me understand what to use when working with Russian (non Latin) characters, words?

Hi
For some reason, if you initialize a StreamReader with the Constructor Streamreader(string), it will use Encoding.UTF7.
if you want to use russian Encoding, you will have to use Streamreader(string,System.Text.Encoding) Constructor.
if your default Encoding on the PC is the Russion Encoding just do it this way:

using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader("c:\\input.txt",System.Text.Encoding.Default))<br />
{<br />
String line;
while ((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null)<br />
{<br />
Console.WriteLine(line);<br />
}<br />
}<br />
otherwise you can Create an Encoding with the appropriate Codepage ID

Hi..
to create a Codepage by ID or Name you do the following:
<br />
System.Text.Encoding myEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(encodingName);<br />
or
<br />
System.Text.Encoding myEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(codePage);<br />
where encodingName is a string and codePage is an int.
you can find out the name of your current defaultEncoding by saying
<br />
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(System.Text.Encoding.Default.Name);<br />
or the codepage with
<br />
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(System.Text.Encoding.Default.CodePage);<br />
if you want to use a different Encoding check http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.text.encoding(vs.80).aspx[^].
here you'll find a list with all supported encodings.
