Hi Dave,
What did you mean by 'logon locally to the servers console' ? Is there some way possible to logon to a console with the 'localsystem' account privileges - to simulate the bhaviour?
|
|
|
|
|
That means logon to the server at it's keyboard and mouse. As I already said, it's impossible to logon to the server using that account.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Dave.
Is there some write-up(or search terms) on the 2003 restrictions that you mentioned related to IE settings?
I have searched a lot but do not find adequate documentation on the way 2003 'localsystem' locks IE up.
Unfortunately,i would require some write-up to back me up on this arguement.
It will be a great help - thanks again for your support.

I don't have anything on it. Your search can't find anything because you're focused on the LocalSystem account. Don't. Just search for the default locked down IE setup on 2003. At the very least, it's documented in the Windows Server 2003 Reosurce Kit.

this is very simple process. if u hav some knowledge of commands
simple process:
$vi myreboot.sh
write following in editor:
#!/bin/sh
reboot
now save file....
now run following commands:
$chmod +x myreboot.sh
$./myreboot.sh
.....thats it.
here "chmod" is used to change mods of file to be executed.

how to write the drivers in OS area
|
|
|
|
|
|
well this is a very wide area of programming a driver.
you will have to interact with the ports or this is also possible through api's without directly interacting with a port where u will be attaching a device.
|
|
|
|
|
I found there are some book in amazon.com which could teach you how to write a device driver for operating system.

Hi,
One of my friend have asked me, is there any possibility to block remote administration in accessing our machine.
Is there any solution for to do the same?

We launch a IE browser from within a windows service and cause the browser to navigate to a particular site using the IWebBrowser2 interface.
The code is as fllows:
hr=CoCreateInstance(CLSID_InternetExplorer,NULL,CLSCTX_LOCAL_SERVER,IID_IWebBrowser2,(void**)&psIE);
if(SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
hr=psIE->put_Visible(VARIANT_TRUE);
CComVariant ve;
CComVariant vurl(_T("www.experts-exhange.com"));
hr = psIE->Navigate2(&vurl, &ve, &ve, &ve, &ve);
if(FAILED(hr))
{
return hr;
}
//Wait thill the page is ready
READYSTATE isReady;
do{
hr=psIE->get_ReadyState(&isReady);
}while( isReady != READYSTATE_COMPLETE);
This works fine in W2K and XP - but in Windows 2003 ,the browser does not navigate to the site.
We just get a blank page-there is no error either.
Does the localsystem account in 2003 have to given additional privileges - the service runs under localsystem account with 'Interact with desktop' setting.

Interactive services have some pretty serious limitations and they become more limited in Windows Vista. See my blog post "Avoid Interactive Services"[^] for the reasoning.

Hi folks ! I am writing a video game with Direct-X and C++. I found that I use nearly 98% of the CPU usage. My specialty is embedded software where I can control the CPU usage because there is generally only one software in the system. But now, I write a game that "run" under Windows with other application. The PRIORITY LEVEL is set to NORMAL and I have a big loop (this is not EVEN-DRIVEN). The loop runs until a receive a QUIT message. For each loop, I look for Windows Message and execute it if I have one. If there is no Windows message, I render (update) the graphics of my game. So I use CPU for my game when the CPU is not busy.
I have checked some other sample of games and they all reach 99% of the CPU usage.
Is there something that I don't understand ?
If some software has PRORITY LEVEL higher than normal, will it takes some CPU and the CPU usage of my game will drop ?
Thanks for your comment.
